A short guided meditation to relax the body and calm the mind. We wake up the energy in our hands and watch the colours dance behind our eyelids. Then we watch clouds lazily drift above us, shifting and moving slowly, just as our mind starts to move slowly too.

Hello,

Welcome.

Lay down on your back and close your eyes.

Find a lovely comfy position.

Imagine that you are lying in a garden on some soft warm grass.

You can feel the grass beneath you is like a cushion,

Soft and bouncy.

Your body feels heavy but supported by the soft green grass.

The backs of your legs,

The backs of your arms,

Your whole back and the back of your head.

All touching and supported by the ground beneath you.

Now rub your hands together to create some warmth.

Rub them a little bit more,

Making the palms of your hands feel warm and almost fizzing with energy.

Then place the palms of your hands over your eyes.

It will become darker when you do this but by rubbing your hands together you have woken up the energy within them and by putting them over your eyes you will see the energy dancing in the darkness.

You may notice different colours,

Different shapes,

Different movements.

Just watch for a short while and when you are ready with your eyes closed drop your hands down by your sides or you can rest them on your tummy or your heart,

Whatever feels the best.

Take in a deep breath in through your nose and let it out through your mouth.

Do that a few more times.

In through your nose and out through your mouth.

Notice the temperature of your breath,

How cold it feels when it comes in and how warm it is when it goes out.

That's your own body's energy warming up your breath while it's inside you.

Now with each breath begin to think to yourself,

When I breathe in I take in love for myself and when I breathe out I send love to those around me.

As you lie there on the soft grass imagine that you are looking up at the sky.

The sun is shining and it warms your body making it feel completely at ease and relaxed.

Your feet,

Your legs,

Completely relaxed.

Your hips and your belly,

Completely relaxed.

Your arms and your chest,

Soft and relaxed.

Your neck and your head,

Heavy and relaxed.

Even the muscles in your face are soft and relaxed in the warm sunshine.

Imagine that the colours and shapes that you could see before are in fact clouds moving slowly across the blue sky.

They're moving so slowly you can hardly notice them changing but they are.

Gently,

Softly,

Slowly turning.

You might see a shape that you recognise,

An animal or a thing.

You might just see slowly swirling patterns as the clouds lazily move high above you.

And you notice that your mind is moving slowly and lazily now just like the clouds.

In this space on the grass you have nothing to think about,

Nothing to worry about,

Nothing to plan for.

Just let your body and your mind go completely.

No sadness or worries,

Just a happy calm feeling that fills your whole body.

And enjoy this feeling for a few more moments as you lay there.

Begin to gently deepen your breath and start to bring your awareness back.

Take a deep breath in and puff up your tummy like a cloud.

And then gently blow the air out and make your body light and soft.

Start to wiggle your fingers and toes,

Waking the body up after its rest.

And when you're ready,

Keeping your eyes closed,

Stretch your arms up above you and stretch into your toes too,

Giving your body a big yawny stretch.

Bring one knee in towards your chest at a time and hug them towards you with both your arms.

Gently rock your body from side to side.

Now roll over onto one side and rest there for a moment.

Push yourself up and find a comfortable sitting position with your legs crossed and your hands resting on your knees.

Rub your hands together one more time to wake up the energy and then place your palms over your eyes,

Noticing the colours and shapes once more.

And when you're ready,

Bring your hands together,

Placing them in front of your heart.

Bow your head down and think about how lucky you are to have such a brilliant body.

Namaste.
