This guided meditation begins with a short story on the origin of "Inviting Mara to Tea." Mara represents the negative emotions that we all experience. The Historical Buddha said that we need to Invite Mara to tea and to befriend our negative emotions, because without Mara there would be no Buddha. When we look deeply at our emotions, give space and listen to our negatively perceived emotions we are able to transform them. This is a guided practice to visualize Mara coming in and sharing with you why they are there so that we can transform and make good use of our indicator emotions. By doing so, have compassion for our own suffering, which, in time will help us to have compassion for others.
