Hello and thank you for choosing to meditate with me today This is a guided meditation for self-esteem body image.
And healing your inner critics.
Take a moment to settle into a comfortable position Allow your body to rest There is nowhere you need to go right now.
Nothing.
Nothing you need to fix.
For these next few minutes.
You are allowed to simply be Take a slow,
Gentle breath in Release it slowly.
Breathe in and clench your jaws Release your scalp.
Relax the muscles around your eyes.
Give yourself permission.
To set down the expectations.
Comparison.
And judgment.
You may have been carrying.
You do not need to earn this moment of glory You deserve it simply because you are here.
Now gently bring your awareness to the voice inside your mind the voice that sometimes tells you that you are not alone.
The voice that compares their appearance to someone else's.
That voice that points out your imperfections.
Remembers your mistakes.
Or tells you that you should look different.
We love you.
Way more.
Be better.
Harder.
This voice has been with you for a very long time.
Perhaps you've heard it so often that you have mistaken it for truth.
But today we are going to practice something a little different instead of fighting that voice.
Instead of feeling ashamed for having those thoughts.
Simply notice.
You might quietly say to yourself.
.
.
I notice that I'm criticizing myself.
Notice.
Comparing myself I notice that I'm being hard on myself.
And then remind yourself.
A thought is enough.
A judgment.
Is not my identity.
And the voice in my head does not get to decide.
My word.
You do not need to hate the part of you that has been critical.
You can acknowledge that it exists without allowing it to lead your life Perhaps that voice developed while you were trying to fit in.
Avoid rejection.
Or protect yourself from the opinions of others.
But you are allowed to learn.
You are allowed to stop speaking to yourself as though you are someone who deserves punishment you deserve understanding too.
Now gently bring your attention to your body not to evaluate it not to measure it not to decide whether it is good enough.
Simply to notice it Feel the surface beneath you supporting your weight Notice the gentle rhythm of your breathing feel your chest rise and fall Your body has carried you through so many moments of your life through difficult days through moments of uncertainty through change,
Growth,
And experiences that have shaped the person you are today Your body is not merely something to be looked at It is the place where you experience your life Your body allows you to breathe Feel warm.
To embrace someone you love.
To experience music.
Too.
To rest.
And to begin again.
And even if your relationship with your body has been complicated,
Even if there are days when the mirror feels uncomfortable You can begin again.
You can begin here.
With respect.
With patience.
With willingness to stop making your appearance a condition of your happiness.
You do not have to love every feature today.
You do not have to feel beautiful every moment You do not even have to feel comfortable right now.
You can begin by allowing your body to exist without criticism by giving yourself permission to take up space.
By recognizing that your worth is not a number on a scale.
Or clothing size a reflection in the mirror.
Or an opinion formed by someone else.
Your body does not have to look a certain way for you to deserve kindness You are worthy of care in this body,
Exactly as you are today Imagine for a moment.
That you are sitting down a heavy bath.
Inside this bag are all the comparisons you have carried The people you thought you should look like?
The standards you believed you had to meet.
The expectations you inherited from your family.
Society.
Relationships or the images you see everyday.
Imagine gently setting that bag on the ground.
You do not have to carry every expectation that has ever been placed upon you.
Someone else's beauty does not diminish yours.
Someone else's success does not make you less valuable someone else's body.
Is not evidence.
That anything is wrong with your home.
There is no competition.
You must win.
To earn the right to feel good about yourself.
You are allowed to appreciate another person without rejecting yourself.
You are.
And as you breathe out,
Imagine releasing the need to compare.
You You're not here to become a copy of someone else.
You are here to experience your own life.
Discover your own strength develop your own confidence to develop your own confidence and to become more comfortable being the person you already are Now imagine that you speak to yourself with the same tenderness you would offer someone you deeply love someone who feels insecure someone who is struggling to accept themselves Someone who believes they are falling short.
What would you say to them?
Would you tell them they're attractive?
Unworthy.
We're not enough.
Or would you remind them that they deserve patience?
They are allowed to grow their imperfections do not erase their good qualities.
Now imagine offering those same words to yourself.
You are worthy.
Of compassion you give to others.
You are allowed to be okay and process without treating yourself like a problem.
You are allowed to make mistakes without attracting you are allowed to make mistakes without attacking your character.
You are allowed to change your appearance without believing you must change to deserve love and you are allowed to feel beautiful without needing everyone else to agree.
From this moment forward.
You can begin to practice a different inner dialogue.
When your mind says,
I'm not good enough.
You can answer.
I am learning to recognize my own worth.
When your mind says,
I hate the way I look.
You can answer.
I can feel uncomfortable without being cruel to myself.
When your mind says.
I should be more like them.
You can answer.
I am allowed to be myself.
And when your mind says,
I'm not in a.
.
.
Pause.
Take a breath and gently remind yourself.
I do not have to earn my worth.
I do not have to be perfect to deserve love.
I am allowed to be human Now imagine a version of yourself who no longer allows the inner critic to control every moment This version of you is not perfect They still have difficult days.
They still experience uncertainty.
But they have learned not to abandon themselves when those moments arise Imagine this version of waking up in the morning They look in the mirror and see a person not as a list of flaws.
They get dressed without allowing a single outfit to determine their entire mood They walk into a room without believing they must compete with everyone around them.
They speak without consistently wondering whether they are good enough.
They allow themselves to be seen and laugh freely.
They take pictures without waiting for the perfect body they enjoy experiences without postponing their happiness until some future version of themselves arrives.
And most importantly.
.
.
They treat themselves with respect.
Imagine stepping into this version of yourself Feel your shoulders relax Allow your breathing to become easy imagine carrying yourself with quiet confidence Not because you believe you are better than anyone else.
But because you no longer believe you are less than.
You do not need to prove your value You do not need to apologize for existing.
You can simply be here,
Fully present in your own life Take a moment to let that feeling settle in.
As we come now towards the end of this meditation.
Place a hand over your heart if that feels comfortable.
Feel the gentle warmth beneath you and silently repeat these words.
I am more than me.
I am more than my insecurities.
I am more than judgments I have made about myself My worth is not something I have to earn.
I can treat my body with kindness even on difficult days I can notice my inner critic without believing everything it says you I am allowed to grow without hating who I am today.
I am learning to become a safe and supportive place for myself.
Take one more slow breath in and gently breathe out You do not have to leave this meditation feeling completely transformed We only need to remember that another way is possible.
The next time your inner critic speaks,
You can pause You can question the thought.
You can choose a kinder response.
And each time you do,
Your practice.
And each time you do.
You practice building a different related projection compassion rather than criticism.
And acceptance rather than comparison.
You have spent enough time believing that you must become someone else to be worthy of love.
Perhaps now you can begin with the beautiful practice of coming home to yourself.
Take your time.
Gently return your awareness to the room around you notice the surface supporting you Gently move your fingers and toes and when you feel ready Carry this reminder with you You do not have to be perfect to be worthy You do not have to look different to deserve kindness and you do not have to wait until tomorrow to begin treating yourself with love You are here now You are human.
You are worthy of compassion today.
You are doing wonderful.
Until next time.
