Welcome to this sleep meditation.
And before we begin,
Please give yourself a moment to make yourself super comfortable.
Lying in bed or on the sofa,
Arranging your blankets and pillows in a way that feels soothing.
And let's begin by arriving,
Gently settling into your space,
Allowing your body to find a position that feels comfortable and supported.
Let your eyes softly close now and bring your awareness to this moment.
Take a slow breath in through the nose and a soft,
Easy exhale out of the mouth.
Again,
Breathing in and releasing out,
Letting the exhales lengthen,
Like the body is sighing itself downward.
There's a quiet invitation here to begin to soften,
To begin to slow.
Feel the weight of your body,
The way you are being held,
Cushions and mattress.
Allow yourself to sink just a little more,
As though the surface beneath you is gently receiving your weight.
Take another slow breath in and a long,
Unhurried exhale out.
And with each breath out,
Feel the body settling.
Bring awareness to the crown of your head and begin a gentle journey downward,
The space between the brows widening,
Eyes resting heavily in their sockets,
The tongue resting at the base of the mouth,
A sense of ease spreading across the face.
Allow that softness now to flow,
Hands soft,
Fingers gently curled,
The whole upper body beginning to feel heavier,
More at rest.
And bring awareness to the chest,
The gentle rise and fall.
Breathing becomes softer here,
More natural,
Still,
Unforced,
The heart space easing,
Expanding slightly with each breath in,
Softening with each breath out.
Now the belly,
Receptive,
With each inhale,
A gentle expansion,
With each exhale,
Let the belly be soft.
Bring your awareness further down to the hips,
Notice the weight of the pelvis,
Sinking deeper,
The lower back easing,
Supported,
Thighs heavy,
Muscles unwinding,
Knees soft,
Elbows releasing,
Ankles loose,
Feet resting,
Toes soft.
The whole body now,
Feel your whole entire body settling,
Heavier.
Take a slow breath in,
And a long,
Soft breath out,
And begin to feel the rhythm of your breath,
Like a gentle tide,
Flowing in,
No effort,
No pressure,
Just a quiet rhythm.
With each exhale,
You are drifting slightly deeper,
As though you are being carried into a soft,
Spacious place,
A place within you,
That no thoughts may still move,
Like distant echoes,
Clouds drifting across a wide sky,
And you can simply let them pass,
To the body,
There is nothing to hold here,
Nothing to carry forward,
The body understands how to rest,
When given space to do so,
And you surrender into this quiet stillness,
And the space within,
And you are so held here,
In this quiet,
Breath flowing gently,
Waves rolling in,
