Have you ever had an emotion that seemed to keep coming back?
Maybe you keep getting anxious about the same type of situation,
Or maybe you find yourself getting frustrated over and over again,
Or maybe you find yourself procrastinating or overthinking or people-pleasing,
Second-guessing yourself.
We can get stuck in these patterns.
And you've likely tried to calm the feeling,
But somehow it continues to come back up.
And sometimes it can be really helpful if we get curious about what is beneath that feeling.
Not because there's always one hidden reason that's hiding there or anything like that.
And not because,
You know,
Every emotion needs to be fixed.
It's because our emotions can sometimes point us towards a thought or an expectation or fear or belief that's influencing how we are experiencing a particular situation.
And that is what I want to explore with you together today.
And then we'll use EFT tapping to work with whatever emotion begins to arise within you.
So I want you to think of something that's been bothering you lately.
And it doesn't need to be your biggest issue that you've got going on.
In fact,
I'd encourage you to choose something that feels a little bit more manageable right now.
So maybe there's a conversation that you've been avoiding having with someone,
Or there's something that you've been worrying about a lot,
Or something that you've been putting off doing.
A situation where you keep getting triggered or frustrated,
Right?
Any of those things.
I want you to bring that situation that you're dealing with to mind.
And I want you to notice what emotions come up for you.
Maybe it's a feeling of anxiety or frustration.
Sadness maybe there's fear there or anger or shame you know it could be a wide variety of emotions whatever is there I just want you to notice.
And I want you to ask yourself.
What am I telling myself about this situation?
And I don't want you to try and come up with the perfect answer here.
I just want you to see what comes up for you.
Maybe it's something like,
I'm going to mess this situation up.
Or they're going to be disappointed in me.
Or I have to get this right.
Or I don't have time for this,
Or I can't handle this.
Something bad is going to happen,
Right?
Notice what thoughts are coming along with this situation.
Maybe it's something completely different than what I said.
Just notice,
Be present to what is coming up for you right now and then I want you to ask yourself,
If that thought were true,
What would it mean about me?
And again,
Don't answer to just force yourself to answer.
I want you to just get curious.
Maybe it could be something like,
I'm not good enough.
Or I can't trust myself.
Or I'm failing.
Or I'm not safe.
I have to do everything myself.
If I want it done right,
I have to do it myself,
Or I'm falling behind,
Or I have to keep everyone happy.
Or again,
It could be something totally different.
And here's one other question.
What would I have to believe for this feeling to make sense?
Take a nice breath here.
See what comes up.
And you may have a very clear answer or maybe you have a vague feeling.
Or maybe you just don't know yet,
And that's okay.
Wherever you are is absolutely okay.
We're simply practicing this act of curiosity here.
And now we're going to move into some tapping.
So choose the thought or belief or feeling that feels most present for you right now.
And you don't have to solve it.
We're not solving the world's problems today.
Just bring it with you as we move through this tapping experience.
Okay?
So tap where I tap and repeat out loud after me.
Even though I'm feeling this emotion around this situation,
And I don't completely understand what's underneath it.
I'm willing to get curious about it.
Even though part of me believes fill in the blanks.
And this belief seems to be affecting how I'm experiencing this situation.
I'm open to noticing what's here.
Even though this feeling keeps coming up,
There may be more to it than what I'm seeing on the surface.
And I'm willing to explore this.
This feeling.
This situation.
This thought I keep having.
This reaction I'm noticing in my body.
Something about this feels really important.
And I'm curious why.
What am I really afraid of?
What am I really believing here?
What am I really believing here?
Take a nice deep breath.
Let it go.
And bring that belief to mind.
And if nothing came up clearly,
It's okay.
You can simply use something like this belief that's underneath all of this,
Okay?
Misbelief I've been carrying this belief.
Maybe I learned this somewhere along the way.
Maybe this belief helped me at some point.
But it's not helping me right now.
I can simply sit with this belief.
I can notice it.
I can be curious about it.
I can begin to create some space around it.
It's okay and I'm okay.
I'm noticing.
Take a nice deep breath.
And ask yourself,
Is this belief absolutely true in every situation all the time?
You don't have to replace it with a positive affirmation.
We're simply looking for maybe the tiniest bit of flexibility here.
Let's keep going.
Nice deep breath.
Maybe this isn't the whole story.
Maybe there's other possibilities.
Maybe I don't have to believe this quite so strongly.
Maybe I can see this situation differently.
Maybe I can trust myself a little bit more.
Maybe it's okay to not have all the answers right now.
Maybe I can choose what I believe now.
And maybe I can give myself permission to be open to something new.
Take a nice deep breath here.
Allow your hands to just rest in your lap and check in once again with that original situation that you brought to mind.
And what do you notice now?
Has the emotion changed at all?
Even at the slightest bit,
Has the intensity of it shifted,
Even the tiniest bit?
Do you see the situation differently?
Are there other thoughts that are coming up around it?
Or did you simply discover something that you maybe didn't notice before?
Again,
There's no right answer here.
And sometimes the shift is emotional.
Sometimes it's more of a physical sensation that you notice in the body.
And sometimes it's simply your awareness has shifted a little bit.
And awareness can be a really,
Really powerful place to begin.
So I want you to remember this simple process.
Feeling,
Situation.
Thought.
Belief.
You don't have to dig for something profound every single time that you're tapping.
But when you begin to notice a pattern that keeps repeating itself,
You can get curious and you should get curious and you can ask yourself,
What is underneath this?
And then you can tap from that place.
Thank you for joining me today,
And I hope this practice served you well.
