Where we dedicate time to connecting deeply with our thoughts and intentions.

Today we'll explore the art of planning for the future through the lens of Zazen meditation.

Zazen invites us to sit with clarity,

To breathe with intention and to focus on the present moment.

Let's take this time together to align our thoughts with our goals,

Creating a serene space for envisioning a future filled with purpose and mindfulness.

Begin by finding a comfortable seated position,

Rest your hands on your lap,

Palms facing up or down,

Whichever feels more natural to you.

Straighten your spine,

Allowing your shoulders to relax and your chin to tuck slightly,

Bringing the back of your neck into alignment.

Close your eyes softly and take a deep breath in through your nose,

Filling your lungs completely.

And as you exhale,

Let go of any tension in your body,

Releasing the day's worries.

Now bring your attention to your breath,

Noticing its natural rhythm.

Breathe in deeply,

Allowing the cool air to fill your lungs and then breathe out,

Letting go of all distractions.

Feel your body grounded,

Connected to the earth beneath you.

In this stillness,

Let's open our minds to the possibilities that lie ahead,

Embracing the present moment as the foundation of our future plans.

As we sit here in stillness,

Let your breath be your anchor.

Each inhalation brings you into the present,

And each exhalation releases any lingering doubts or concerns.

In zazen,

We're not striving to change or control our thoughts,

But simply to observe them.

Let your mind be like a still pond,

Reflecting what is,

Without any disturbance.

Thoughts of the future may arise,

Acknowledge them without attachment,

Allowing them to pass like clouds drifting across the sky.

Planning for the future doesn't mean living in the future,

It's about setting intentions today that gently guide the path ahead.

And as you breathe in,

Consider your aspirations,

The goals that light up your spirit,

What do you wish to cultivate in your life?

With each exhale,

Release the need to rush,

The need to force outcomes.

Trust in the process,

Knowing that the seeds you plant now will grow in their own time.

Imagine yourself standing at the edge of a calm ocean,

The horizon stretching infinitely before you.

This horizon represents your future,

Vast and open.

Notice how the water gently lapses your feet,

A reminder of the present moment,

Grounding you.

And as you stand here,

Reflect on the values that guide your life.

What principles do you wish to carry forwards?

What do you wish to let go of?

Breathe in,

Drawing these intentions closer to your heart,

Allow any fears or doubts to dissolve with your exhale,
