Mental rest is not about shutting off the mind—it’s about offering it quiet spaces, little pauses where it doesn’t need to carry the world. Think of it as closing a few “open tabs” in your inner browser.

Close your eyes and let your awareness arrive,

Like a soft breeze settling over a quiet meadow.

Your mind may be busy,

Filled with thoughts racing like small birds in flight.

That's okay,

No need to chase them.

Just watch them pass one by one,

Like clouds drifting across an endless sky.

Notice the spaces between the clouds.

That stillness is always here,

Even if we rarely stop to feel it.

Lean into it.

Let your awareness rest there,

In the openness that doesn't demand anything from you.

With each breath,

Imagine the gentle clearing of fog,

A quiet unfolding inside your mind.

Thoughts may come and go,

Some light,

Some heavy,

But you are the sky,

Vast and unshakable.

Breathe in,

A pause appears.

Breathe out,

A cloud drifts away.

Now,

Expand your awareness to the subtle rhythms beneath the thoughts,

The hum of your breath,

The rise and fall of your chest,

The gentle pulse of life moving through you.

Let these sensations anchor you in the present,

A quiet reminder that even amidst thinking,

There is a place of rest.

Stay here for a few moments longer,

Resting in the subtle space between thinking and knowing,

Between doing and simply being.

Allow this gentle stillness to wash over you,

Softening tension in your body and mind alike.

And as you settle deeper,

Place your hand over your heart and whisper softly,

I give my mind permission to rest.

Let this quietness linger a moment longer,

A gentle gift you can return to anytime.

When you are ready,

Slowly open your eyes,

Carrying the calm and spaciousness with you.

Mental rest doesn't require long hours of meditation.

It can be as simple as pausing between tasks,

Closing your eyes for a minute,

Or noticing the silence hidden between two breaths.

Every pause is a gift to the mind.

For so very long I've pushed and pressed and moved and accelerated and planned and built. It can be quite exhausting. Thank you for this pause, and for the divine reminder that we can pause between tasks, between breaths, between heartbeats. There we find moments of peace and those moments nuture and sustain.
