Welcome dear friend,
I'm so glad you're here,
Ready to unwind and embrace the tranquility of the night.
In this moment,
We will journey through a gentle body scan designed to help you release tension and drift into deep relaxation.
This practice is like a warm blanket,
Wrapping you in comfort and peace as you prepare for a restful night's sleep.
Let's begin by finding a comfortable position.
You can lie down on your back with your arms gently resting at your sides or on your belly,
Whatever feels best for you right now.
Allow your body to settle into the surface beneath you,
Feeling fully supported.
Let's take a few deep breaths together.
Inhale slowly through your nose,
Filling your lungs with air.
Hold it gently for a moment.
And exhale softly through your mouth,
Releasing any tension from your day.
Let's do that again.
Breathe in deeply,
Hold,
And let it flow out.
One more time,
Inhale fully,
Hold,
And exhale completely.
As you breathe,
Notice how your body begins to relax with each exhale.
Allow yourself to let go of any distractions or worries from the day.
This is your time to unwind and connect with yourself.
Imagine a soft wave of relaxation beginning at the top of your head.
This wave represents calmness and peace,
Washing over you and inviting you to let go of any lingering tension.
Let's begin our body scan by bringing our attention to the scalp.
Notice any sensations there,
The weight of your hair or the softness of your skin.
With each breath out,
Allow any tension in this area to melt away.
Now move your attention down to your forehead.
Feel the muscles relaxing as you let go of any tightness.
Allow your brow to soften,
Letting go of the day's worries.
Bring your focus to your eyes.
Notice how they feel,
Perhaps heavy or relaxed.
Allow them to rest gently in their sockets,
Releasing any strain or tension.
Next,
Shift your attention to your cheeks and jaw.
Let your jaw drop slightly,
Parting your lips just a bit as you breathe out.
Feel the relaxation spreading through these areas as you release any tightness.
Now let's bring awareness to your neck and throat.
Gently allow these muscles to soften,
As if they were melting into the surface beneath you.
Move down to your shoulders,
Those areas where we often carry so much weight.
Take a deep breath in and as you exhale,
Imagine letting go of all that heaviness.
Feel your shoulders drop away from your ears,
Relaxing deeply.
Now bring attention to your arms,
Starting from the upper arms down through the elbows,
Forearms,
Wrists,
Hands and fingers.
Notice any sensations here.
Allow them to relax completely with each breath out.
Shift your focus now to your chest and upper back.
Feel the rise and fall of each breath as it moves through this area.
Allow any tension in these muscles to dissolve with each exhale.
Bring awareness to your abdomen now.
Notice how it expands with each inhale and softens with each exhale.
Let go of any tightness here.
Allow it to feel soft and relaxed.
Now focus on your lower back.
Imagine sending warmth and relaxation into this area,
Releasing any discomfort or tightness that may be present.
Let's continue down to the hips and pelvis.
Allow these areas to relax fully as you breathe out,
Feeling grounded and secure.
Now bring awareness to each leg,
Starting from the thighs down through the knees,
Calves,
Ankles,
Feet and toes.
Notice how heavy they feel as they sink into the surface beneath you.
With each breath out,
Let go of any remaining tension in these areas.
As we complete our body scan,
Take a moment to notice how relaxed you feel from head to toe.
Your body has traveled from tension to tranquility,
A beautiful journey into deep relaxation.
Imagine now that soothing wave of relaxation expanding around you like a gentle cocoon,
A warm embrace that invites peaceful sleep.
Take one last deep breath in,
Allowing all these feelings of calmness to settle within you like soft feathers resting on a pillow.
When you're ready,
Begin to wiggle your fingers and toes gently as if waking from a restful sleep.
Slowly open your eyes if they were closed,
Or simply allow yourself to drift into sleep if that feels right for you.
Thank you for sharing this bedtime body scan with me tonight.
May this sense of relaxation carry you into a peaceful night's sleep filled with sweet dreams.
