Let's begin with a gentle breathing rhythm known as 4-7-8 breathing,
A pattern that naturally settles the body.
Breathe in slowly through your nose for a count of 4,
Hold softly for a count of 7,
Exhale gently through your mouth for a count of 8.
If these numbers don't feel comfortable,
Adjust them.
This practice belongs to you.
Move at your own pace in a way that feels supportive.
Again,
Inhale 2-3-4,
Hold 2-3-4-5-6-7,
Exhale 2-3-4-5-6-7,

Bring your awareness down to your feet.
Imagine any tension flowing out of them,
Like water gently moving downstream.
Your lower legs soften,
Relax,
Grow warm and loose.
This wave of relaxation travels upward,
Through your knees,
Your thighs,
Into your hips and lower abdomen.
Your hands and fingers release.
Your arms grow comfortably heavy.
Your chest rises and falls with an easy rhythm.
Your shoulders melt downward.
Any remaining tension simply drains away.
It may feel as though you are sitting in warm,
Soothing water.
Supported,
Held,
Weightless,
And calm.
Take a few moments to simply enjoy this deepening stillness.
Picture your mind like a wheel that has been spinning quickly,
And now it slows.
And slows.
And slows.
Until it turns gently,
Quietly.
Now imagine yourself resting on a peaceful beach.
Perhaps you are lying beneath a soft sunshade.
The air is warm.
The light is gentle.
You feel completely safe.
Listen to the sound of waves rolling toward the shore.
And then receding.
With each wave that draws back into the ocean,
It carries away any thoughts,
Worries,
Or tension that no longer serve you.
Wave by wave,
They dissolve into the vast sea.
Notice your breathing again.
And again.
Natural,
Steady.
Rising and falling like the tide.
In this peaceful place,
You may see images in your mind.
Or you may simply feel sensations.
Either experience is perfect.
Sense your body blending gently with the surroundings.
The sand beneath you.
The rhythm of the ocean.
The warmth of the sun.
The soft movement of air.
Everything feels connected.
Whole.
