Welcome to this grounding meditation.
Take a moment to arrive here.
Find a seated position that allows your body to feel supported.
Either on a chair or on the floor.
Perhaps even your bed or your couch.
Allow the weight of the body to settle down beneath you as the spine gently lengthens upward.
Hands resting softly wherever they feel comfortable.
With every exhale,
Allow the shoulders to soften a little more.
The jaw unclenching and the body easing out of holding for a moment.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose.
Feeling the chest.
Filling the belly,
And open the mouth as you let that breath fall out.
One more deep breath in.
Feeling the breath move through the chest and down into the body.
And slowly releasing that breath out through the mouth One last deep breath in.
And a long steady breath out.
As you follow the natural and calm rhythm of your breath,
Imagine growing roots.
From the points where your body meets the earth,
Roots begin to grow with every inhale.
And with every exhale,
These roots begin to reach deeper and deeper into the earth.
Into the ground.
Into the rocks and the soil.
Past the ocean floor.
Into the deeper layers of the earth.
Reaching all the way towards the core of the earth towards the outer core.
That deep layer beneath the surface that is constantly moving and shifting.
And beneath that the roots continue reaching deeper still.
Deeper towards the inner core.
Deepest and most stable part of the earth.
And with your next breath,
Notice roots beginning to rise from the inner core of the earth towards yours.
Slowly rising from deep within the earth.
Reaching towards the roots you have grown downwards.
With every breath,
The distance between them becomes smaller and smaller.
The roots moving closer and closer towards one another.
Until eventually they begin to meet.
Gently wrapping around one another.
Intertwining more and more with every inhale and exhale.
Just like two systems finding each other.
Connecting.
Holding.
Anchoring.
Feel the subtle pull beneath you as the roots weave together.
The earth holding on to you just as you are holding on to it.
Quiet confirmation that you are supported.
Grounded.
And connected.
Take another slow breath in.
And exhale slowly.
Again,
Breathing in.
Feeling the connection beneath you.
And breathing out.
Allowing the body to soften into that support.
You are held by the earth beneath you.
Rooted deeply enough that life can move around you.
Without pulling you away from yourself.
Notice the steadiness beneath you.
Knowing that support remains even when life moves fast around you.
Because grounding is not about never being shaken.
It's about knowing how to return to yourself again and again.
Take one more slow breath in.
And gently let it go.
Again,
Breathing in slowly.
And exhaling fully.
One last slow breath in.
And a long steady breath out.
And gently bring your awareness back into the space around you.
The temperature of the air against your skin.
The sounds around you the weight of the body where it meets the floor or the chair beneath you.
And gently begin to invite a little movement back into the body.
Perhaps wiggling the fingers.
The toes,
Or rolling your shoulders if that feels good.
And take your time returning.
There's no need to rush out of this moment.
A few more conscious breaths here.
And when you feel ready softly blink the eyes open.
Allowing yourself to carry some of that steadiness with you into the rest of your day.
