Welcome to this energetic cord-cutting meditation.
To start,
Settle yourself into a comfortable position and let your hands rest easily.
If it feels safe to close your eyes,
You can,
And if not,
Just soften your gaze.
Take a slow breath in.
And a longer breath out.
Again,
In.
.
.
And another out.
This is a practice of kind,
Firm boundaries.
It isn't about anger and it isn't about punishment.
It's simply about clarity and about choosing to release what's no longer for your highest good with respect for yourself and for the other.
As you breathe,
Imagine a soft light around your body,
Like a gentle cocoon.
It's a light that says I'm allowed to be here and I'm allowed to protect my energy.
Let that light become a little stronger with each breath as if your body is remembering its own shape.
Now bring to mind a person,
A situation,
A pattern or an energy that you feel tethered to.
You don't need to relive anything and you don't need to go looking for details.
Just notice the sense of attachment.
In your mind's eye,
Begin to visualize an energetic cord between you and that person,
The situation or energy.
This might look like a thread,
A rope,
Chain or a vine.
However it shows up is perfect.
Just notice where it connects to you.
It might be at the heart,
The throat,
The solar plexus,
The belly or the back of the neck.
And as you notice it,
Remind yourself gently that this chord formed for a reason.
Maybe it was love.
Maybe it was survival.
Maybe it was habit.
Maybe it was hope.
Whatever it was,
You can honor that without needing to keep paying for it.
Bring a hand to your heart and either aloud or silently say.
I honour what this connection once gave me.
And I release what it's taking from me now.
Now with your next few breaths,
Imagine calling your energy back to you,
As if golden light is returning through the cord.
Breathe in.
And as you breathe out,
Feel your energy returning as you reclaim what's yours.
When you feel ready,
Imagine a tool of clean release.
It could be a blade of light,
A pair of golden scissors,
Or a flame that burns only what's ready to be released.
Choose whatever feels right for you.
Bring that tool to the cord and before you cut,
Speak your boundary with compassion.
I release you with respect.
I wish you well on your path.
And I choose my own well-being now.
Take a breath in.
And on the out-breath,
Cut the cord.
Notice what happens.
Maybe it dissolves into light,
Maybe it falls away,
Maybe it turns to ash and disappears.
However it releases,
Let it be enough.
If you feel there are more cords,
Take the next few moments to identify the connection.
Honour what it once gave you and release it with compassion.
Now bring your attention to the place where the cord is attached to you and imagine sealing that space with healing light like warm honey or soft gold,
Smoothing it over until you feel whole again.
And now we'll add a gentle protection and grounding close.
This is a quiet keep out that doesn't harm anyone but does keep your energy yours.
Imagine your aura,
That soft light around you becoming a little more defined now,
Like a boundary with a calm,
Clear edge.
It's still warm,
It's still kind,
But it's not porous If it helps,
You can picture a circle of light around you or a cloak of protection settling on your shoulders,
Or perhaps even a door that closes with a soft click.
And say either aloud or in your mind,
Only what is for my highest good is welcome here.
Everything else must stay out.
Now feel your feet.
Where you're sitting.
The weight of your body and imagine roots dropping down into the earth anchoring you.
Take a slow breath in.
And release it as a gentle sigh.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes,
Carrying a new clear calm boundary with you.
