Welcome to Somatic Signal.
I'm Jeremy.
If you wake up with a running to-do list,
Force?
It won't fix it.
But noticing the signals,
That might provide some information we can use.
This under five minute morning reset.
It uses motor overrides and interoception to dampen the anterior cingulate cortex.
This quiets the default mode network.
The one that overthinks?
And it lets you return to a neutral calm signal.
So let's calibrate.
Sit in a steady position.
And you can keep your eyes open.
Do you mind soften your gaze?
Without moving them,
You might start to take in more of the light in the room.
We're going to start with a nonverbal motor cue in the jaw.
Your brain sends excess stress signals here first.
It's called motor overflow.
You might try to unclench your teeth.
And just notice where your tongue is.
If it's on the floor of your mouth or pressing towards the roof.
You might just try to give it a little more ease.
And this is a signal in itself.
Next,
Let's add your hands.
This is another massive map in your brain.
Press your palms firmly against each other at chest height if you can.
Feel that clean,
Solid pressure between your hands.
This is consuming motor bandwidth.
Holding that steady tension even for three seconds and then releasing.
And then we can notice.
What happens to the tactile input when it changes?
Did it pull us straight out of our thoughts?
And into the physical room and body.
And keeping your wide visual gaze.
Just listen to the room around you.
Just taking it in.
Not labeling.
Restraining sounds purely as neutral audio signals.
Pitch.
Frequency.
Background noise.
We're observing the input and we're not reacting to it.
And our ears are taking it in all the time.
Check in now.
In your bassline.
Maybe it's quiet.
Maybe it's steady.
Maybe it's the same.
I'm just noticing.
