Today's topic is embracing life's journey,
Turning regrets into opportunities.
I bring up this topic reflecting back on a conversation I had with my husband a couple of weeks ago,
Who shared with me that when his mother was dying,
She shared with him her life regrets.
He was so upset thinking back on what she had told him that when I looked at him,
I said,
You know,
Let's turn this around and think of this as a gift that she has given you and now you're giving me.
Because if we can realize that we don't want to live a life with those types of regrets now and that we have the power to change it today.
And I went on to ask him,
So what would those regrets be?
If you knew you were dying tomorrow and tonight was your last night with me,
What would your regrets be?
And I won't share his,
But I will share mine with you.
And that would be my regret is that my husband has always wanted to take me traveling around the world to see all these beautiful places.
And I always have an excuse,
Who's going to watch the dogs.
We can't be gone that long.
I mean,
Always an excuse,
But no more.
I told him that day,
I promise you,
I will change my ways.
When you want to go,
We'll go.
We need to travel.
We need to see the world.
And within a week,
We booked a two week trip to Switzerland.
So today I ask you now to reflect,
What would your regrets be if you were facing your last day today?
Is it a dream you never pursued?
A relationship that you let slip away?
A fear you never conquered?
Just reflect on that for a minute.
But here's the beautiful thing.
You are alive.
You are breathing right here,
Right now.
And that means you have the power to change your regrets into actions.
What if you reached out to that person you've been thinking about?
What if you pursued that passion you've always pushed away?
What if you forgave someone else?
Or better yet,
What if you forgave yourself?
Today is the day to start living without regrets.
Today is the day to embrace life with open arms,
To take a risk,
To love deeply,
And to chase your dreams.
So I urge you,
You are alive.
Act like it.
Go outside.
Call a longtime friend that you haven't spoken with in years and tell them how much you value their friendship.
I'm not talking about a text message,
I'm talking about dialing the number and letting them hear your voice and you hearing their voice.
Go to the gym.
Go for a walk with your spouse,
Your kids,
Your dog.
Alone.
Climb that mountain you've dreamed of.
Run until you feel like you're gonna die.
Find yourself.
Live your life.
Take that vacation without excuses.
And remember this mantra.
I choose to live without regrets.
Today,
I will embrace life with all its beauty and challenges and I will make the most of every moment I have.
Go live your life,
My friend.
