Before we rest tonight,
Let's take a slow breath together.
Inhale deeply and exhale gently.
Let your shoulders drop,
Your jaws soften,
And your hands relax.
Tonight,
Imagine you are walking with God,
Slowly,
Quietly,
Through a peaceful evening path.
The air is cool,
The stars are beginning to shine,
And everything feels still.
Each step you take,
The weight of the day begins to lift.
You don't need to carry anything right now.
Not the worries,
Not the questions,
Not the plans.
God is walking beside you,
And he knows what's on your heart.
You feel the ground beneath your feet,
Soft earth,
Steady and sure.
The path curves gently through tall trees,
Whispering in the night breeze.
You can almost hear the leaves sing,
Be still and know that I am God.
You glance beside you and you sense his presence,
Not as a distant figure,
But as the one who has always been near.
He doesn't rush you,
He doesn't ask you to be more or do more.
He simply walks with you,
Step by step,
Reminding you that his peace is not something you earn,
It's something you rest in.
Let his words echo in your heart.
Come to me,
All who are weary and burdened,
And I will give you rest.
Matthew 11,
28.
You breathe in deeply and feel the comfort of those words settle into your soul.
Now,
As you continue walking,
Imagine handing him each concern you carry through this day,
One by one.
Your to-do list,
Your fatigue,
Your fears,
Your loved ones.
He takes each one gently,
With understanding and love.
You no longer have to hold them,
They're safe in his hands.
The stars above grow brighter,
The night is peaceful,
And you feel lighter,
Not because life is perfect,
But because you've remembered you're not walking it alone.
The path opens into a quiet meadow,
Soft grass beneath your feet,
A calm glow from the moon above.
You sit with God for a moment in the stillness.
The air is filled with peace,
Not just around you,
But within you.
You whisper a simple prayer.
Lord,
Thank you for walking with me in the noise and in the quiet,
In my striving and in my rest.
Tonight,
I give you my heart,
My mind,
My worries,
And my dreams.
Help me to rest in your love and wake renewed in your grace.
You lie back,
Feeling completely safe,
As if heaven itself has wrapped around you.
Your breath grows slower,
Your body releases every trace of tension.
You feel God's presence near,
Protecting,
Guiding,
Comforting.
Let sleep come softly now,
Knowing that the one who made the stars watches over you.
Rest beloved,
You are his,
You are loved,
And it is safe to sleep.
Amen.
