What Is Your Body Trying To Tell You?
Are you truly paying attention to what your body is trying to tell you? Our bodies speak to us in the only language they have: physical sensations. When you stop feeling your best, it isn't just a random slump—it is a direct signal. Your body is asking for help, craving a change, and waiting for you to hear its message. This video breaks down some subtle signs and daily reactions to look for. If you just aren't feeling as energized or comfortable as you used to, this will help you translate what your body wants you to know before those little imbalances turn into bigger issues. Your body will always give you warning signs along the path to illness. True holistic health begins when we finally pause, take notice of those signals, correct our course, and gently guide ourselves back to well-being. Hello,
I'm Sue.
Welcome to Holistically You.
I thought I'd make a video today about my own health journey,
Just some of the things that I learned about myself,
About my health,
And maybe it will help someone else.
Sometimes we can go through,
I certainly did,
Go through just not feeling good.
I had some health issues and when I went to look for the cause of them,
I couldn't get any answers.
So I went,
Honestly,
From doctor to chiropractor,
To hospital,
To dentist,
To naturopath,
To everywhere,
You know,
And I couldn't get any answers.
So I couldn't get any help.
Eventually,
For me,
I was able to find help with a homeopath,
A very special sort of homeopath.
But,
You know,
It just was such a surprise to me that it could take that much effort to get help.
So the homeopath I went to is a holistic guy and that's what homeopathy embraces.
So he looked at my whole system and that is where I learned the importance of looking at the system as a whole rather than a piece of it.
So that's what I wanted to talk to you about today and the way that our bodies try to communicate with us when they're in difficulty.
I just thought some people might relate to this.
It was certainly a big learning curve for me and one that I'm really grateful for because it has changed the way I look at things now.
When I wasn't feeling good and I couldn't find any answers,
What I finally understood was that these are the signs for me,
They were the signs for me,
Of my body saying,
Hey,
Excuse me,
I'm not doing very well.
I need your attention.
I could do with some help.
I could do with some adjustment.
I could deal with you thinking about me and doing better.
I could deal with your help rather than you continuing to do the things that don't help me.
So that's what my body was saying to me but I didn't understand that.
Isn't it strange that something as simple as that,
A call from our own body,
From my own body,
I had to go on this outward journey to find out what it meant.
That was a long time ago now.
So what I had to do eventually was to just bring this back to the simplest things like,
Was I getting enough sleep?
Was I drinking enough water?
Was I resting enough?
Was I getting enough movement or exercise?
And what was I eating?
For me,
Food has always been a big factor in my life,
Sensitivities to food,
Not only to food,
But I'm a very sensitive person.
So as I discovered later in life that I had the symptoms of all of this for a long time,
But I didn't recognize it.
I didn't realize it.
I didn't think about it.
So I was actually having a reaction to everything,
Like perfumes,
The makeup that you put on your skin.
I don't wear any,
Haven't for a long time now.
Even like moisturizers and things like that.
I have to make sure that my shampoo is very natural.
Any smells around me are actually natural smells.
So they can't be man-made things.
I can't have like a fragrant oil.
It has to be an essential oil.
And I can't have additives,
Preservatives.
I just don't do well with any of that stuff.
So this was a long process for me to come to this understanding.
If you're unaware,
Don't feel bad.
It is a long process.
It can be a long process.
Some simple things to watch for.
Do you feel good after you eat something?
It can be as simple as that.
Does whatever it is that you're eating make you feel good?
Does it make you feel like you're going to pass out?
Like you must get to a bed immediately because you're going to fall asleep.
You can't stay up anymore.
Are you eating or drinking things that don't support you,
But keep you awake,
That are going to lead you to difficulty?
Are you having things that make you then need to take antacids because you're not digesting them well enough?
Are you getting an upset stomach?
Are you having to run to the toilet after you eat particular things?
Those things are obvious.
And we tend to think that,
Oh,
You know,
Every time I eat,
I have this issue.
But if you look at it more closely,
You'll see that it's probably not after you eat anything,
Unless your body is so overloaded by now.
But it's probably when I eat this thing.
So it can be great to have a little bit of a stop eating for a little while at least,
And just let your body catch up and have some of that stuff pass through you and out so that you're working with a cleaner slate.
And then you can take notice of how you're affected by what you eat or drink.
Even if you're not affected immediately,
You can look in the morning.
How do you wake up?
How do you look when you wake up?
How do you feel when you wake up?
Is it a struggle to just stand up?
Does your body hurt?
Do you notice that your face is all puffy in the mornings?
All of these things are also clues that your body needs some help in whatever it's trying to do.
So this is where the cycle comes in.
What I would like you to be aware of is that there is this cycle,
And the cycle is that we ignore our body's signals.
Then after a while,
We become sick and we change.
We progress from that,
Oh,
I'm just not feeling good,
But the doctor can't find anything wrong with me,
To then the doctor can find something wrong with you because your body has progressed along that line,
And now there is an issue that needs attention.
So it's not good to ignore these signals.
And then we wonder why we got sick.
So it's better,
It's so much easier,
So much better to just help yourself when your body is telling you that it's needed.
Now,
The next thing is about listening to yourself rather than what you see on TV,
On Facebook,
On radio,
On whatever,
That this is healthy and that's healthy and something else is healthy.
Some foods are healthier than others,
But the problem can be that over time,
You may develop a sensitivity,
Say to gluten or to dairy or to wheat in general,
Or to other things,
To eggs.
You can develop a problem that wasn't there before because your body has been needing some help for a while.
And then suddenly it just gets more and more tired and more and more tired,
And then suddenly says,
I just can't do this anymore.
So then you have a real thing to look into and to help yourself cope with.
Now,
It's much better if you just don't let yourself get to that point.
And especially for illnesses that can develop when we ignore what our body is telling us.
It's much easier to support our body as we notice these things than it is to just push through it or to take antacids every day or something,
And then have to deal with the aftermath of whatever it is that your body was trying to tell you was happening.
It is much easier to avoid a health crisis than it is to recover from a health crisis.
So just coming back to that point about there being certain foods that we're told to eat.
Pay attention when you eat these things and see how do you feel.
Maybe not right then,
Because sometimes things feel really good while you're eating them,
But half an hour later,
Two hours later,
You can start to feel really bad.
You know,
Your blood sugar can spike,
Your blood sugar can drop,
You can start to feel gassy and bloated,
Etc.
Just watch yourself over time and see how you're feeling right through until the next morning and see how you wake up the next day.
So in this way,
You can see whether something is not just a good food in general,
But is it good for you?
Because they can be two very different questions,
You know.
99 out of 100 people can eat things and feel great.
But if you are that 100th person,
You need to eat differently.
That's all.
That's all I'm saying.
Look at what's happening,
You know,
And is it good for you?
Not is it good for the guy next door or for the 100 people that swear it's great.
How is it for you?
A really effective thing that I'm going to suggest is to start a journal.
Now you don't need to journal all your feelings and everything,
You know,
It doesn't have to be a huge task,
But you can start a journal of food and rest,
Etc.
So you can write down what you ate and then you can write down how you felt like half an hour after that,
Two hours after that,
Several hours after that,
The next morning.
And you can write whether you exercised or whether you sat around,
Whether you drank alcohol,
Whether you drank juice,
Whether you ate meat,
Things that sometimes you've noticed that you don't feel good after you eat them or things that give you indigestion,
You know.
Just write all of that down and then you've got this thing.
If you keep that diary for about 30 days,
Then you've really got something to look back at and to say,
Oh,
Look at that.
That's a common thread,
You know.
I had this day and this day and this day and I didn't feel good any of those days.
It's also a great tool if you look through this and you want to go and have a chat with your doctor about it.
You've got all of this for them to look at.
So this is a great way to help them know what your days and your weeks look like.
Brain fog or sudden mood drops,
That can be a for people that suddenly get very irritable and can't figure out why.
That can be a reaction to foods.
Let's look for digestive discomfort,
Bloating or heaviness.
And the next morning,
We talked about looking for delayed signals like puffy face,
Stiff joints,
Waking up,
Tired,
Et cetera.
This is true holistic health.
True holistic health starts to happen when we stop looking at ourselves in pieces,
But instead look at the whole picture.
Rather than relying on what you hear from others,
Friends or relatives or TV or Facebook or whatever,
Let your own body inform you and pay attention to your body.
It does tell you things.
It speaks.
Understand that your doctor cares,
But unless you tell them,
They will not be able to see your whole picture or even see the need to look at your whole picture.
They need to confine themselves mostly to looking at the part that you're having an issue with because of the time constraint,
Because that's what you do.
You go there with a specific complaint.
They help you with that complaint.
If you need your whole system looked at,
I think it's wonderful to have that diary that you can take with you.
You can take it to a doctor.
You could take it to some other health consultant that you might see.
So it's a really good thing to have.
It's a really good thing to inform yourself and a really good thing to support you if you need to inform someone else.
So take care and I'll see you in the next video.
This is one of many,
Many videos to come on the subject of not just physical health,
But wholeness.
