Wherever you are,
Whatever you are doing.
Good morning.
You might still be lying in bed,
Sitting comfortably with eyes closed or open,
Or already getting on with your day.
Opening up this space to allow a mental pause.
Noticing your breath.
No need to change the breath.
Just start by noticing the breath.
Aware of the sounds around you.
From distant sounds.
Tinera sound.
To the sound of your breath.
You might be somewhere quiet where there aren't many sounds at all.
As you notice the sound of your prayer.
Noticing the sensation of the breath at the top of your lip,
Tip of the nose.
Notice if there's a sense of warmth or coolness.
Do the breaths feel fast or slow?
Deep or shallow.
No need to change anything.
Just notice.
And now where do you most feel the breath in your body?
As you inhale,
Where does the body respond?
Where is there expansion?
And perhaps connecting to a gentle sense of softening releasing on the exhale.
No need to change the breath.
Just noticing.
This may be enough for you in this moment.
Or you may feel able to allow the breath to become slightly longer with each exhale.
There's no need to count the breath unless that's a practice you know and like to do.
Just sensing the exhale is longer than the inhale.
Just a little longer on each exhale.
Doing that now.
As we welcome this new day.
I invite you to repeat silently.
I trust myself to handle whatever today brings.
I trust myself to handle whatever today brings.
I trust myself.
I trust myself.
I trust myself.
I invite you to take this mantra with you into your day to help anchor you.
Thank you for sharing your practice with me.
You can return to this practice anytime it feels helpful.
