Princess Anna the Banana by Emily Beth Are you all ready and snuggled into your bed?
Because this story is about to begin.
Anna,
The princess of Banana Land who lived in Nigeria,
Felt as though she was never the most desirable banana you ever saw.
In fact,
She felt more like the most undesirable banana you ever saw.
With her not-so-typical,
Not-so-normal overripeness,
Princess Anna found it very difficult to find a prince.
But there were good things about not being the typical ripe banana.
For example,
The jungle monkeys who also lived in the trees never tried to attack the princess's palace.
Because,
Well,
Who wants to capture a banana who has black spots and is squishier than squished squash?
Princess Anna longed to be a sweet,
Golden,
Yellow banana,
But accepted that she would never be one.
And so her dilemma remained.
No prince to share the banana palace with.
No prince to have banana babies with.
No prince to grow old with.
Princess Anna was starting to lose all hope.
One day,
High up in the trees,
Princess Anna sat with her monkey friends,
Oliver and Ethan,
Enjoying the African morning breeze.
When suddenly,
Princess Anna saw something strange.
Oliver,
Ethan,
Do you see what I see?
Princess Anna asked.
Ethan and Oliver looked at the jungle and then at each other.
They nodded their heads very fast.
We do,
We do.
Well then,
Said Anna,
Let's get a move on,
Quickly now.
For sitting in the back pocket of a dirty,
Mean old man's pants was what looked like a banana man.
Ethan and Oliver knew what had to be done.
They swung hard from tree to tree,
Moving themselves into the ready position as quickly and quietly as possible.
Then,
As fast as a blink,
Ethan swung in front of the man's face while Oliver swooped in and snatched the banana man right out of that dirty,
Mean old man's pocket.
The monkeys were so swift that the man didn't even know what was happening until Oliver and Ethan were swinging away with the newfound banana man.
The dirty,
Mean old man was confused and angry as he pulled his slingshot from his bag and started shooting sharp little rocks at the monkeys.
Ethan and Oliver were still swinging from tree to tree,
All while trying not to drop the newfound banana man,
Successfully losing the old man's view while disappearing into the jungle.
Meanwhile,
Back at the palace,
Princess Anna was getting worried.
Twenty minutes had passed,
And still no banana man had walked through her palace doors.
But wait,
She thought.
Is that the sound of a door opening?
Anna ran down the hall and saw a greenish figure.
She eagerly asked,
Who are you?
Are you okay?
Where did you come from?
The man replied,
I am Prince Moya,
Prince of the Plantains of Ghana.
Thank you,
Princess Anna,
For saving my life.
Princess Anna stood there in awe.
She had never seen a plantain before.
Her mind was racing and her heart was pounding.
Suddenly,
Anna's tummy felt funny and her eyes got fuzzy.
Then Princess Anna fainted.
Prince Moya rushed to her side.
Oh my,
What a beautiful banana.
But what illness does she have?
What should we do?
Ethan responded,
Sir,
I really don't think she is ill at all.
Then Oliver added,
Perhaps we might take her to her bedchamber.
Princess Anna awoke laying in her bed,
Staring up into the eyes of this newfound plantain,
And promptly asked,
Prince Moya,
Do you find me yucky and squishy,
As do all the other bananas here in my jungle?
Prince Moya responded,
Princess Anna,
That is the last thing I could ever think of you.
I have been on this long and difficult journey for many days,
Hoping to find my love,
Looking for a princess,
And you,
You are the most beautiful,
Kind-hearted banana I have ever laid my plantain eyes on.
I hope you will forever be mine.
I hope we can rule together,
And I hope we can grow old together.
Princess Anna began crying,
Took Prince Moya into her arms and said,
Please don't ever let me go.
And from that moment on,
Prince Moya and Princess Anna loved each other so much,
They got married and made banana-tamed babies together.
They ruled all banana-land and lived happily with their banana-tamed babies forever and on.
The End
