Welcome to this guided meditation for deep,

Restful sleep.

In this journey you will be guided to create a serene space within,

Helping you to release the day's distractions and worries.

Take a moment now to settle into a comfortable position and close your eyes.

This is your time to unwind,

To let go of the day,

And to prepare your mind and body for a peaceful night's rest.

We will begin by focusing on the breath to quiet the mind and invite deep relaxation.

Take a deep breath in through your nose and slowly exhale through your mouth.

Feel the air flowing in,

Cool and refreshing,

And feel it leaving your body warm and soothing.

Once again inhaling deeply and releasing the breath,

Letting go of any tension or stress.

Feeling your body and mind already beginning to relax.

With each inhale draw in calmness and ease,

And with each exhale allow any stress or tension to flow out of you.

Now let's lengthen your breath.

Inhale for the count of 4,

1,

2,

3,

4,

And exhaling for the count of 6,

1,

2,

3,

4,

5,

6.

That's right.

Feel yourself relaxing more deeply with each breath as though you're sinking into softness.

Continue to breathe slowly and deeply,

Letting your body grow heavier and your mind quieter with every breath.

Now in your mind's eye imagine yourself standing in front of a large window.

On the other side you can see your thoughts,

Worries,

Any mind chatter floating by,

Like soft wisps of smoke or drifting clouds.

Each thought,

Each worry moves aimlessly,

Sometimes quickly,

Sometimes slowly.

There is no need to engage with them,

Simply observe them as they float by,

Knowing they are outside of you.

Above the window hangs a rich,

Heavy velvet curtain,

Its color a deep midnight blue or perhaps a rich burgundy.

It calms you just by looking at it.

You reach out to touch the velvet,

Feeling its soft,

Luxurious texture against your fingertips.

The fabric is smooth yet weighty,

Warm yet soothing.

It feels like a gentle embrace inviting you to let go and relax.

Now slowly begin to lower the velvet curtain down the window.

As you draw the fabric down,

Notice how it glides effortlessly,

Its weight creating a sense of grounding and calm.

The folds of the velvet begin to cover the window and as they do,

The thoughts outside grow dimmer,

Fainter.

Not only are your thoughts fading,

But you notice the voices in your head,

The inner chatter,

The replaying of conversations,

The to-do lists,

They too begin to soften.

You can hear the voices growing quieter,

As though the velvet is absorbing the sound itself,

Muffling it gently.

As the curtain continues to descend,

It wraps around all those voices like a thick,

Comforting blanket.

Your volume lowers to a soft murmur,

Then to a distant hum,

Until finally all you hear is silence.

The velvet curtain absorbs every word,

Every sound,

Wrapping them up and quieting them completely.

With the curtain fully lowered,

There is no more noise,

No more thoughts,

No more chatter.

Everything is muffled and softened behind the luxurious fabric.

You are surrounded by stillness.

The world outside is distant and you are wrapped in the soft folds of calm.

Feel the velvet not only in your hands,

But also wrapping around your entire body.

Feel it draping around you like a protective cocoon,

Shielding you from all distractions.

The texture against your skin is warm and comforting,

Bringing with it a sense of peace.

Notice how the velvet is not just covering the window,

But gently quieting your entire mind.

Every breath you take now deepens this sense of quiet.

Inhale the calm,

And as you exhale,

Any lingering mental chatter melts away,

Muffled completely by the soft,

Heavy fabric.

With each moment,

The curtain creates a deeper silence,

A stillness that lets you rest.

You are now in a place of peace and calm.

No thoughts can enter,

No voices can disturb you.

The velvet curtain has created a sanctuary where you are fully protected,

Fully at peace.

Feel yourself sinking deeper into this quiet space.
