
Befriend Your Inner Child

This guided meditation invites you to connect with your younger self, offering them the love, safety, and understanding they may have longed for. As you enter a state of deep relaxation, you’ll be guided through a visualization where you meet your inner child in a beautiful, tranquil garden. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to listen to their hopes, fears, and dreams, providing them with the nurturing support they need. This meditation is designed to facilitate healing on the deepest level of your subconscious, where old wounds and patterns reside.

Find a comfortable position,
Either sitting or lying down.
Close your eyes and take a nice deep breath in through your nose,
Then slowly exhale through your mouth.
Imagine a warm golden light above you.
This warm,
Gold light represents relaxation and calm.
Notice that you can direct this soothing light to any area of your body,
Allowing it to relax completely.
Imagine this warm light gently touching your forehead,
Smoothing out any tension.
Let it flow over your eyes,
Softening the muscles around them.
Feel the light caressing your cheeks,
Jaw,
And chin,
Allowing your entire face to relax.
Now,
Direct this light to your neck and throat,
Noticing that any tightness just melts away.
The warmth spreads,
Loosening every muscle.
Now,
Guiding the light to your shoulders,
Feeling them drop as the warmth seeps in,
And releasing any tension.
Let the light flow down your arms,
Through your elbows,
To your forearms.
Your hands are bathed in the golden glow,
Palms softening,
Fingers uncurling.
Bring the warm light to your chest and stomach,
And as you breathe deeply,
Imagine the light expanding and contracting.
Bring the warm light to your chest and stomach,
And as you breathe deeply,
Imagine the light expanding and contracting with each breath,
Relaxing your entire torso,
Letting your stomach loose.
Focus the light on your hips and lower back now.
Let it seep deep into these areas,
Dissolving any stress or strain they've been holding.
And I wonder just how relaxed you are feeling.
Guide the soothing light down to your legs.
Feel it enveloping your thighs,
Knees,
Calves,
And shins.
The warmth penetrates deep into the muscles,
Releasing any remaining tension.
Finally,
Direct the light to your feet.
Imagine it wrapping around each toe,
The soles of your feet,
And your heels.
Every part of your feet is bathed in relaxing golden warmth.
The soothing light now envelops your entire body,
From the top of your head to the tips of your toes.
You're surrounded by a cocoon of warmth and relaxation.
Can you feel a sense of profound relaxation through your entire body,
From the top of your head all the way down to the tips of your toes?
And as you continue to relax even more deeply now,
Notice a color you love forming at the top of your head.
And now gently allow that color to flow in through the top of your head,
Letting it flow all the way through your body and down through the bottoms of your feet.
As this color flows through you,
It naturally knows where you are holding any remaining tension or stress and goes directly to those areas and washes it all away.
That's right.
Allowing this color to wash through you,
Releasing you,
Relaxing you,
And you sink deeper and deeper now.
As this beautiful color continues to flow through your body,
Go ahead and repeat after me in your mind,
I am safe.
I am relaxed.
I am right where I need to be.
And as your body relaxes,
You might have noticed your mind relaxes too.
Allow your mind to float freely and peacefully.
Allow any thoughts you may have to just float away,
Like bubbles.
Observe the thoughts and just let them float away.
And as you feel this deep relaxation,
Imagine a beautiful stairway inviting you down,
Down to a wonderful place,
Deep within yourself to your own inner essence.
Feel yourself descending the stairs and go down and down,
Deeper and deeper relaxed.
Keep seeing yourself going deeper down,
Feel yourself going deeper down,
Each step taking you deeper and deeper.
And the deeper you go,
The better you feel.
And I wonder how much deeper you can go into your own internal awareness.
And very soon,
As you continue to go deeper,
You'll achieve the perfect state of relaxation.
Letting go of any distractions for any noise,
Any sound,
Any movement you hear or sense takes you deeper and deeper within yourself.
So allow yourself to relax even deeper now.
And now as you reach this perfect level of relaxation,
Deeper and deeper within yourself,
You find yourself entering a bubble.
This bubble is all around you and you feel so safe and protected inside this bubble,
Calm and relaxed and at peace with the world.
Begin to imagine a golden light that radiates within you,
Shining through your heart.
This golden light is warming you,
Healing you.
It is the light of your true essence.
And as you notice this light shining within your heart,
Opening it,
You are ready to explore with curiosity and compassion for yourself,
Going deeper into your inner wisdom.
With a calm state of mind,
You can safely explore yourself and your feelings.
Asking your mind to be gentle with this process.
Only bringing up what you can handle so as not to overwhelm you.
Staying in this experience with curiosity and compassion.
Imagine yourself in a lovely garden surrounded by beautiful flowers,
Tall trees,
And the soothing sounds of nature.
Feel a gentle breeze on your skin and the warmth of the sun above you.
The temperature is just right.
Breathe it all in and notice everything is at peace and perfect here.
Allow yourself to feel safe and secure in this beautiful place.
And in the distance you notice there is a child in the garden.
And as you move toward them they turn to look at you and you see that it is you as a child.
Notice how old they are,
How they look,
And any other details that stand out to you.
Very,
Very good.
Take a moment now to connect with this part of you in a way that's comfortable for both of you.
You can just observe and say hello.
Introduce yourself and let them know that you are their adult self and allow them to respond however they wish.
And when you have done that I'd like you to look into their eyes,
Getting down on their eye level if they're smaller than you,
And I'd like you to repeat after me in your mind.
Thank you so much for being here today.
I'm here to keep you safe.
I'm here to make sure that all of your needs are met.
I'm here for you completely without judgment.
Now take some time to listen to them.
Ask if there's anything they want to share with you.
Let them tell you their hopes and fears and dreams,
Listening to their hurts and worries.
Simply listen to them with compassion and understanding.
And if they're quiet,
Just be present and send them love from your heart.
Your inner child has been wounded over the years,
Sometimes by others,
Sometimes by you with thoughts of unworthiness or shame.
Recognize any hurt or pain they feel.
Tell them you are very sorry for anything that has been done to them that may have caused them pain.
Tell them you love and honor them,
That they are unique,
Amazing,
Celebrated.
Let them know that their presence in the world is a blessing.
Tell them how proud you are of everything they have learned and anything they might have endured.
Give them whatever they may need.
Take a few moments to do this now.
Now spend some time with your younger self doing whatever they wish to do.
Maybe they want to show you things,
Be held or cuddled.
Just allow whatever comes with curiosity and compassion.
Let them tell you what they need from you.
Perhaps it's to play more,
Laugh more,
Lighten up more.
Now in your own time,
Ask anything at all you wish to know from your younger self and let them know you have heard everything they have shared with you.
Let them know you will always be there for them and you can share with them every bit of your adult wisdom and knowledge and that you are here to protect them in all ways each and every day.
Tell them,
I see you.
I hear you.
You are special.
You matter.
I will protect you and keep you safe.
Whatever you need to hear,
Tell that to your younger self.
What did you want to hear that you didn't when you were growing up?
Say it now.
Tell them anything else you need to say.
And as you continue connecting with this younger you,
Feeling completely safe and free,
Notice that you and this younger part of you are already starting to lighten up and feel better.
With each and every breath you take you can see,
Feel and experience that both of you are changing,
Becoming more and more playful,
Feeling safe,
Happier,
Enjoying a wonderful sense of lightness and confidence that is your true nature.
Notice how freeing and wonderful that feels,
How safe it feels to return to your true innate essence.
Now allow these pleasant feelings and sensations to grow and deepen throughout your being.

Now go ahead and look into the eyes of your younger self and repeat after me in your mind.

Now go ahead and give this younger part of you a hug or some other form of approval.
And now allow younger you to become smaller and smaller so that younger you can jump inside your heart,
Letting them stay there safe and sound,
Where you will instantly be there to calm and comfort them or offer reassurance and guidance.
You can even imagine a golden cord connecting the two of you from heart to heart and only love and healing flows between you both.
And as you stay connected with this younger part of you,
You'll notice how your life improves in so many ways.
You'll feel a deeper connection to yourself that you haven't felt before and a new alignment that will bring you greater strength,
Safety and stability.
This connection will allow you to discover a sense of joy and curiosity tapping into greater levels of your creativity.
Your relationships will grow and deepen as you deepen into your own self-love and self-worth.
Old patterns and triggers will heal as you hold you and your younger self with compassion and love.
Overall,
This connection with your inner child will bring a greater sense of wholeness and fulfillment to every area of your life.
Your subconscious mind is now aware that powerful healing has taken place and it will continue in the days ahead.
Trust that your unconscious can plug these changes into all the places where you need it the most,
Where it brings you the most healing so that you can feel completely at peace.
Trust that this process is happening effortlessly and naturally for your highest good.
Know that you are deserving of this peace and wholeness.
Allow yourself to receive it fully and embrace the profound transformation taking place within you.
And so it is.
