Good morning.
I'm so glad you're here with me for a few minutes before the start of your day.
However you're feeling right now,
It's okay.
If you're excited,
Tired,
A little nervous,
Or even mixed up.
Every single one of those feelings is allowed to be with you today.
Nothing you feel now is wrong.
It's information.
Your body telling you it's a new day.
Let's start by finding our seat.
So feel your back against your seat.
Maybe your feet are on the floor.
Maybe your hands are resting in your lap or on your legs.
Feel held.
Feel supported.
You're safe here.
Now let's try a fun breath together.
This one's called Bunny Breath.
Take three quick little sniffs through your nose,
Like a bunny smelling a carrot.
Smiff,
Smiff,
Smiff and then one long out breath through your mouth.
Like a big sigh.
Let's do it again.
Breathe in,
Sniff,
Sniff,
Sniff.
And out.
One more time.
Sniff sniff sniff and out.
However silly that felt,
You just told your body,
I am safe.
And that's powerful.
Now let's ground ourselves wherever you are,
Even if you're in the car on the way to school.
This is a little game.
Look for these things as you drive or wherever you are in your environment.
You can name them in your head or out loud,
Whatever you like.
Find five things you can see.
Any five things.
Go ahead and name them now.
Now find four things you can hear.
Maybe it's a voice,
The wind,
Background noises.
And now find three things you feel.
Your shirt,
The seat under you,
The air on your skin.
Good job.
Finally,
Find two things you smell.
Maybe it's the soap on your hands or fabric softener on your clothes.
Whatever you smell,
Name them now.
Let's do one more add-on just for fun.
One thing you're grateful that your body can do today.
Like breathe or blink or wiggle your toes.
What are you grateful for?
Amazing work.
You just brought your whole self right here into this moment now.
And here's something true I want you to remember as you go throughout your day.
Anxiety might show up.
It might tap you on the shoulder when you're at school or during a test,
In the hallway or at lunch.
That's okay.
Anxiety is allowed to visit.
But anxiety does not get to be in charge of you.
You do.
So let's repeat together again out loud or in your head.
Anxiety can come along for the ride.
But it doesn't get to steer.
And here's another one,
Again,
Just for fun,
But this is my favorite.
Repeat after me.
I am bigger than this feeling.
And this feeling will pass.
And this feeling will pass.
Now,
Before I leave you today,
Let's find one small thing you can look forward to.
It doesn't have to be big.
Maybe it's a friend you'll see,
A special snack in your lunch.
Maybe it's recess or just coming home.
Take a moment and think what is one great thing waiting for you today.
Now hold on to that.
You're ready for this day.
You are capable.
You are so loved.
And you're going to be okay.
Take a deep breath in with me,
In and out.
And out.
Have a beautiful day.
I am so proud of you.
