Welcome beautiful soul.
In today's gratitude meditation we're going to take a moment to appreciate the countless everyday comforts,
Conveniences and modern wonders that quietly support our lives.
So often we move through our days without even noticing the things that make life easier,
Safer,
More comfortable and more connected.
Like hot water that flows from the taps,
The technology that keeps us connected to loved ones,
That lights our homes and the vehicles that carry us where we need to go.
These things can become so familiar that we forget what a gift they truly are.
This gentle practice invites you to slow down,
Notice these everyday blessings and really appreciate how much good there is in every day.
So to begin let's get nice and comfortable.
Sitting or lying down,
Whatever feels best for you.
And if it feels safe for you to do so,
You might like to close your eyes or soften your gaze for the practice.
Let's begin by taking a nice deep breath in and a long,
Slow breath out.
Again,
A nice deep breath in.
And a slow relaxing breath out.
Final time,
One more deep breath in and a nice long exhale.
Allow your breath to settle into its natural rhythm but with every breath in invite a little bit more ease into your body and a little bit more calm into your mind.
As we move through this meditation allow yourself to appreciate the simple things that quietly support our everyday life Let's begin with something that many of us use every single day without a second thought.
Hot water.
Beautiful hot water flowing from the shower.
The comfort of a hot bath.
And clean water available whenever we need it.
Thank you for the luxury of hot water,
For helping me to cleanse,
Refresh and care for myself in comfort.
Thank you for the warmth,
Cleanliness and ease hot water brings to my daily life.
Now,
Think about electricity.
The invisible energy that powers so much of modern life.
The lights that brighten our home,
The kettle that makes our morning tea or coffee and the refrigerator that keeps our food fresh.
The ability to flick a switch and create comfort,
Convenience and safety.
Thank you for electricity that quietly supports my everyday life and may I never lose sight of what a remarkable gift it is.
Now let's think about technology and the internet.
A modern miracle that gives us access to knowledge and learning in seconds.
It gives us the ability to answer questions,
Learn new skills and explore the world from our homes.
Thank you for the internet.
Thank you for how the internet helps me to learn,
Grow,
Solve problems and stay informed.
Thank you for how it connects me to ideas,
Opportunities and experiences that previous generations could only imagine.
Now let's bring our mind to the ways we stay connected to the people we love.
Video calls that allow us to see the smiling happy faces of family and friends wherever they may be in the world.
Messages that arrive instantly,
Phone calls that can help us feel close even when we are far apart.
Thank you for technology that keeps me connected to the people I love and care about.
Thank you for the ability to share conversations,
Laughter,
Milestones and love,
Regardless of distance.
May I never take these precious connections for granted.
Now let's think about transport.
Cars,
Trains,
Buses,
Planes.
The ability to travel to work,
Visit loved ones,
Explore new places and complete everyday tasks.
Thank you for the freedom and independence that transportation brings.
Thank you for helping me move through the world with greater comfort,
Safety and ease.
And thank you for the opportunities and experiences made possible by travel and simply being able to get from one place to the next.
Now let's appreciate the comfort of heating and cooling,
Warm homes on cold winter mornings,
Cool rooms on hot summer afternoons and the simple comfort of being able to create a comfortable environment for ourselves and those we love.
Thank you for heating and cooling and thank you for helping me make my home a place of comfort,
Rest and refuge.
Thank you that I can always keep my home comfortable throughout the changing seasons.
Now let's think about food and supermarkets and the abundance of food that's available to most of us.
The supermarkets stocked with fresh produce,
The farmers,
Growers,
Transport workers and shop staff who help bring the food to our table.
And how easily it is that we have the ability to nourish ourselves and our families.
Thank you for the food that sustains me.
And thank you for the countless people whose effort make it possible for me to enjoy healthy,
Nourishing meals.
Now let's bring your awareness to your home,
Whether it's a house,
An apartment,
A single room or shared spaces,
It's a beautiful place to rest,
A place where we can feel safe and a place to retreat from the outside world.
Thank you for the shelter of the home that protects me.
And thank you for the comfort,
Safety and security of having a place to call home.
Now let's bring to mind the people who you love and care for.
Family members,
Loved ones,
Friends,
Neighbours and colleagues.
Thank you for the people who support me,
Encourage me and share life's journey with me.
Thank you for the relationships that bring meaning,
Connection and joy to my life.
Thank you for the moments of laughter,
Kindness and understanding.
And most of all,
Thank you for the wonderful feeling of love.
Now let's bring your awareness to your life as a whole.
It may not be a perfect life and it's often not without its challenges,
But it is a life filled with countless blessings,
Comforts,
Conveniences and things that support us every day.
Allow yourself to appreciate the beautiful and extraordinary world we live in.
A world where knowledge is available in seconds,
Where loved ones can connect across oceans,
Where warmth,
Shelter,
Clean water and nourishment are often within reach.
And allow a deep sense of gratitude to fill your heart.
Let that gratitude spread through your body.
And notice how it feels.
Life often feels better with a little gratitude.
It opens the heart and helps us truly appreciate the things we already have.
Now I'm going to go silent for a minute.
So you can simply rest in a moment gratitude and appreciation for all that supports you in life.
And when you're ready,
Gently begin to bring an awareness back to your body and the room around you.
Perhaps wiggle your fingers or toes.
Maybe take a gentle stretch.
And take one final slow mindful breath in.
And a long gentle breath out.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
Hopefully you can move through the rest of your day with a greater appreciation of the simple things that make life more comfortable and enjoyable.
May your mind be peaceful,
Your body be well and your heart filled with gratitude.
Namaste.
