The happiness prescription.
To begin,
We invite you to get comfortable and close your eyes.
Take several slow deep breaths and relax.
And as you relax,
We offer to you this introduction.
Happiness may be many things to many people,
But most certainly it is a perception.
One that is often combined with the emotions of elation,
Joy,
Euphoria,
Wonder,
Contentment,
Love and bliss.
It is a state of mind that you are invited to enter for the next several moments as you are guided through this happiness meditation experience.
This meditation session,
Inspired by sages and wisdom keepers the world over,
And once shared by author Elizabeth Gilbert in her best-selling book Eat,
Pray,
Love,
Welcomes you to contemplate on the topic of happiness,
Specifically your happiness,
And to generate an aura of delight,
Contentment,
Euphoria and bliss.
It's important to note that there is no pursuit of happiness going on here.
Rather,
We are tapping into a level of consciousness,
One that is in our very presence,
Our very grasp.
We only need to hold out our metaphorical hands.
Moreover,
It's also important to note here that this meditation theme offers a way to help bring balance to the spectrum of our emotions.
Because all too often,
The needle gets stuck in the register of anger and fear for far too long.
This meditation experience helps bring things back into balance.
Our intention is not to offer a vision of unicorns or rainbows,
But instead to offer what many wisdom keepers remind us of,
That happiness is our most natural state of being.
More than simply thinking of things that make you happy,
We encourage you to feel the sensation of happiness,
First in your heart space and then throughout your entire body,
Even down to every cell and every DNA molecule in your cell,
As you recall these thoughts,
Memories and perceptions in the conscious mind.
Remember,
Should you find in your mind that things begin to wander,
And most likely your mind will wander,
And your attention is lured away from the feelings of happiness,
Simply acknowledge it as such.
Take a deep breath,
Exhale,
Release and let it go,
And then rejoin the energy of happiness once again.
So,
Over the next 20 minutes,
You will hear 20 suggestions,
One per minute,
And after each one is read,
You'll hear a slight touch of the Tibetan singing bowl to help focus your attention.
Each suggestion will be followed by a minute of silence to enjoy the creation of happiness that this suggestion elicits.
Please contemplate what you hear to generate the greatest level of happiness,
Joy,
Bliss or euphoria that you can,
And please feel free to embellish,
Adapt and even change these suggestions to make them the most powerful for you.
Okay,
So let's begin.
Call something in nature,
A place,
A setting,
A location,
An animal,
A natural experience that has given you great,
Great pleasure and continues to do so.
Call to mind a person who makes you smile,
Giggle and laugh.
Call to mind any specific song or music that lifts your spirits way above the clouds.
Think of a time when you felt one with nature,
One with the universe,
One with the cosmos.
Call to mind the happiest time you spent with your favorite pet.
Recreate the moments of touch,
Smell,
Sight and sound.
Call to mind the sensation of touch and think what has given you the greatest pleasure ever.
Remind yourself of the sensations of laughter and laughing so hard it nearly hurt but you couldn't stop because it felt so good.
Bring to mind a time of pure altruism,
When you did a random act of kindness for someone in need and as a result the world became a better place because of this act.
A sense of freedom is quite liberating.
Surround yourself in this mindset and remind yourself what the sensation of freedom feels like.
Bring to mind a specific color,
A color that makes you happy.
Surround yourself in the vibrancy of this color,
Its energy and breathe it in to imbue your whole body.
Call to mind the experience and feel the excitement of having a small bird gently land on your hand as it searches for food or nectar and the special connection that has been made in this moment.
Remind yourself of being in the presence of a young child who laughs,
Giggles and laughs and giggles some more and then continues to laugh with delight.
Call to mind a sense of wonder and awe about the vastness of our Milky Way galaxy,
Our moon,
Constellations,
The rings of Saturn,
Falling stars and the brilliant emerald green,
Pink and red northern lights.
Bring to mind the sweet taste of chocolate or coconut or fresh fruit or even your favorite flavor of ice cream or a gelato.
Call to mind an elder like a grandparent,
A mentor,
Favorite neighbor or even a hero that inspires you.
Surround yourself in the energy of their presence.
Call to mind an episode of one of your favorite movies,
Plays,
Comedians,
Funny TV shows or stream shows.
Relive those moments now.
Picture yourself in a butterfly pavilion with hundreds upon hundreds of butterflies,
Morpho blue butterflies,
Monarch or yellow tiger lily butterflies all fluttering around you for what seems like hours.
Bring to mind the feeling of laying comfortably snug under a beautiful down comforter with clean sheets nestled among down pillows with nothing to do but relax and take a short nap.
Bring to mind the smell of your favorite blend of fresh ground coffee or aroma.
Envelope yourself in this aroma and smile.
Picture this,
You are at your favorite concert venue listening to your all-time favorite band,
Group or musician,
And it is heavenly.
Picture yourself of a time when you are surrounded by your best friends eating some of your favorite foods at your favorite restaurant,
Bistro or cafe.
Finally,
Please add your own suggestion by calling to mind your own thought experience,
A personal one that rounds out this mosaic of happiness,
The ideas of joy,
Bliss and the essence that you surround yourself in now.
In closing,
We are reminded through all kinds of sacred wisdom and even current studies like those at Harvard University,
That happiness is really an expression of love.
Now as great as this feeling of sense of happiness is,
It's even greater when the feeling is shared.
So now,
You are invited through what we call the non-local mind which connects us all,
To emanate these feelings of happiness,
Bliss,
Joy,
Contentment and love well beyond your auric field and presence,
Out to the world from your heart space.
