Before you sleep,
Take a moment to notice how you're speaking to yourself tonight.
If there's a part of you replaying the day,
Pointing out what you should have done better,
Or whispering that you didn't do enough,
You're not alone.
This is a space where you don't have to be perfect,
Where every version of you is welcome,
Where self-judgment can soften,
Even just a little.
Let your body find a position that feels comfortable.
You don't need to hold yourself in a certain way,
Just let gravity take over.
Let your weight sink into the bed,
The pillow,
The blankets.
Let yourself be supported.
Take a slow breath in and let it fall out naturally.
No need to control it,
Just letting your breath be whatever it wants.
If your mind feels busy or restless,
That's okay.
You are not doing anything wrong.
You're simply arriving.
As you settle,
Gently notice if there's a part of you that's been hard on yourself today.
Maybe it's been pointing out mistakes,
Maybe it's comparing you to others,
Maybe it's telling you that you should have done more.
We're not going to try to push it away.
Just acknowledge it softly,
Like noticing a familiar voice is trying to protect you in its own way,
Even if that doesn't always feel kind.
Let your shoulders drop a little.
Let your jaw loosen.
Let your hands rest in whatever shape they naturally fall into.
Imagine offering that critical self a little space.
Not arguing with it,
Not agreeing with it,
But just giving it room to breathe.
You might say quietly inside of yourself,
I hear you,
You've been working hard,
You can rest now.
Feel how your body responds.
Maybe a small shift,
A tiny release,
Or simply awareness.
There's no right way to feel,
Just noticing is enough.
If there's a part of you that feels like it fell short today,
Or didn't show up the way it wanted to,
Let it know this.
You did the best you could with the energy,
Capacity,
And circumstances you had.
You tried,
You cared,
And you showed up in the ways that you were able.
And honestly,
That's enough for tonight.
Let your breath soften.
Let your body settle.
Let the pressure ease even slightly.
As you drift towards sleep,
Imagine placing the day,
All of it,
On a shelf or on the floor beside you.
Not throwing it away,
But just setting it down for now.
You don't need to solve anything tonight.
You don't need to fix anything.
You don't need to do anything to earn rest.
You are allowed to simply be here,
Breathing,
Softening,
And letting go.
As you drift towards sleep,
Take a moment to thank yourself for showing up here,
For giving your mind and body a place to rest.
If this practice supported you,
I'd love for you to follow my Insight Timer channel so you can return to these moments of calm whenever you need them.
And if you feel comfortable,
I'd love it if you'd share in the comments,
What self-judgment are you ready to soften tonight?
Your reflections help others feel less alone,
And I read every single one.
Thank you so much for being here.
Rest well.
