The Longing

This poem is very special to me and one that I’m very proud of and connected to. It's one that I know I'll go back to at different times of my life and listen to. Throughout my life so far I've always felt a pull to another time, place, to other people that are not part of my physical life now. I've even had dreams where I'm walking into a house and I have a "knowing" that it's my "grandmother's house" but it's not a house that any grandmother I know of now ever lived in. I've also had visions that just seem to pop into my head that feel almost like memories. I can even describe these dreams and visions in detail if ever asked to. I feel profoundly drawn to the 1800s, the 1950's, and to all things Native American and I've never been able to explain it. So this poem is kind of my way of working through the storm going on inside of me.
