Hi,
Thanks for joining me for this activity which is called the spiral technique.
So as you settle into the place or space where you are right now,
I invite you to bring up a disturbing memory or thought.
And concentrate on the body sensations that accompany that disturbance.
In this exercise we're going to be using our imagination.
And there's no right or wrong way or right or wrong responses to practices.
When you bring up the memory or the thought,
Just notice how it feels.
If we were to put a number on it of how much it upsets you or disturbs you.
And zero equals no disturbance at all,
All very calm and neutral.
And 10 equals the worst level of disturbance or distress.
Just notice what number you would give that now.
And as you bring up the disturbing memory or thoughts,
Notice where you feel it in your body.
Really concentrate on the feeling in your body.
Where is it and what does it feel like?
Now imagine that the feelings are energy.
And if the sensation was moving like a spiral What direction would it be moving?
Would it be going clockwise?
Or anti-clockwise.
Now with your imagination let's change the direction and move the spiral in the opposite direction.
Just notice what happens as it moves in the opposite direction.
What's happening?
What happens?
Now imagine that the spiral is moving away from you.
Getting smaller.
And smaller.
Can you imagine that?
Just keep watching as the spiral moves further and further away.
Just further and further away.
Until it's just a dot on the horizon.
Then imagine that it just drops out of sight,
Drops below the horizon.
And what do you notice now?
I hope you found this useful activity.
And thanks for joining.
