Hello friends.
Thank you for being here.
Summer holidays are getting closer for some of us and it got me thinking about the meaning of free time.
And therefore,
Time in general.
If you listen to my last track with Pietra the magpie,
Maybe you remember that she said,
Time doesn't exist.
And yet,
Look at the expressions we use!
We say we can spend time.
Waste time.
Run out of time.
As if it were a currency.
Something we can hold and lose.
Something we can't control.
But can we?
If holidays and weekends are time off.
All free time.
What does that say about the rest of our days?
That they are time-on.
I'm owned by someone else.
Is work simply time we give up in exchange for money?
And if so,
Does that mean those hours are worth more than the ones we spend with friends or doing absolutely nothing?
Think about the person who can only focus for three hours,
Works fast,
Produces excellent results.
And then is forced to stay in the office for the rest of the day.
Sitting there.
Present but not present.
Is their time worth less because there is more of it in the chair?
Or think about the person who needs more time.
Who takes work home in the evenings.
Whose mind keeps spinning long after the laptop closes.
Is their time worth the same?
Probably,
We all know that time of presence has nothing to do with actual results.
So maybe time is not a currency at all.
Maybe it's something much stranger.
We could go further and ask.
What does a good time even mean?
Is it the same for everyone?
Doubtful.
Some people want to do as much as possible.
When they are free from restrictions.
Others choose to do the least they can.
What they have in common is this.
Neither will get paid for it.
And what they receive in return might be more valuable than money.
Or maybe not.
There is no fixed exchange rate for a minute.
A minute of waiting in a long queue is not the same as a minute of holding someone you love.
We all know this.
So time is not money.
It never was.
In some parts of the world,
There are no bus schedules.
People gather and wait without asking for how long.
They are not impatient.
They are simply present.
Together.
Until the bus arrives.
We Westerners,
On the other hand,
Love to see.
I don't have time for this.
As if time were a possession we keep in our pockets.
And migraine out of.
But what we really mean is.
.
.
This is not a priority.
I am afraid of what happens if I stop moving.
So perhaps this is less about time and more about patience.
More about willingness.
If an hour can feel like nothing to one person.
And an eternity to another.
And time dedicated to an activity is only a perception.
A story we tell ourselves.
I think this is exactly what Pietra the Magpie meant.
When she said that time doesn't exist.
There is no such thing as pre-time.
Good time.
Bad time,
No time.
All there is.
All there has ever been.
Is the present moment.
This one.
Right here.
Maybe it's about time we started listening to birds.
And to all the other animals.
Pietra knew what she was talking about.
Then again.
She is a magpie.
They know everything.
Namaste.
