Hi,
This is my first teaching and today I would like to do a mantra.
The mantra is a series of phrases that we use in repetition to kind of hone the mind.
I particularly like them just because it's something to focus on,
It's a focal point.
And an important thing to remember is if you ever lose your place within this mantra just to start at the beginning after you've kind of pat yourself on the back for remembering your awareness.
So this mantra I got from the Vietnamese Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh and it is going to go something like this.
Every phrase I say is going to be taken with a breath so just kind of follow along and eventually you will remember the mantra itself and you can sit and repeat it.
This is one of my favorites so I hope you enjoy.
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
Buddha is my mindfulness.
Shining near,
Shining far.
Dharma is my conscious breathing.
Calming body and mind,
I am free.
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
Sangha is my five skandhas working together in harmony,
Taking refuge in myself,
Going back to myself,
I am free.
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
