Psychotherapy isn't awakening but it can help release places inside that are blocking Awakening. Carl Jung, Ramana, and Carl Rogers and spiritual bypasses are discussed. For those who feel that therapy could be useful, different ways to access it are discussed. Free methods of co-counseling not limited to Reevaluation Counseling, Co-counseling international, al-anon, adult children of Alcoholics, psychotherapeutically assisted psychedelics, Enneagram, etc. Also, local spiritual groups can help.

That’s all very helpful. I’d like to add one that I was told about and then had personal experience of, Recovery International. It is excellent. It is about skills and awareness and group support with a formula on developing the skills for “living a peaceful life” and was developed in the late 1930’s by Dr Abraham Lowe. There’s information on YouTube.

thanks for addressing this topic. i found it interesting that studies show that no matter which type of therapy you use it has the same effect for the most part. i’m glad to hear that. i’ve been to several therapist over the years. i’ve been in grief counseling for a couple years now (hospice offers free grief counseling) and this has been a tremendous help, esp to make sure im grieving in a healthy way..
quick story. When I first got sober 40+ years ago I went to a psychiatrist, an actual MD for therapy. He was very very good. But he was very very expensive and I told him I couldn’t afford to continue. I’ll never forget what he told me. He said Alice, I’ve been doing this a long time and Im at the end of my career. And it’s so enjoyable to work with somebody that truly wants to get better that I will not charge you. (i hope that story made you smile 😊) ✨✨✨✨✨

Nice review, William. If and when I return to work as a therapist, I feel confident that my approach will be Rogerian based art therapy. But I will always go psychoeducation in trauma work- regulation of the nervous system, triggers and learning theory, parts psychology. I have learned so much from you on these 92 podcasts!
