Welcome,
My name is Kimberly.
I'm so glad you are here.
This is a yoga class for the mind,
For those of us who feel unique or out of place in a crowd.
This is different than a yoga nidra.
This meditation is not designed to help you drift off.
It is designed to lift you up.
Before we begin,
I want to invite you to find a comfortable place to sit.
Whether it's on the floor,
In a chair in your office,
Or at home,
Or sitting upright in your bed.
I do recommend staying seated for this meditation.
Having your spine tall and your head aligned over your heart is important here as it creates the anchor we need as we prepare to lift our perspective.
Let's start by closing our eyes.
Take a moment to feel your hips and your glutes pressing down.
Feeling the earth beneath you.
Feeling the length of your spine.
As a reminder,
We aren't here to drift off.
We are here to rise up.
So let's begin.
Imagine you are walking into a room.
Maybe it's a yoga class,
A busy office,
A meeting,
Or a crowded store.
You hear the chatter.
You feel the static.
You might even feel like you don't want to be there.
That you'd rather be in your own backyard,
In your own sanctuary.
Sit with this feeling for a minute.
Feel it,
But don't label it.
Now,
Take a deep breath in and exhale out with a sigh.
Inhale again and exhale out with another sigh.
Feel the tension in your chest and your head begin to soften.
On your next exhale,
Imagine the energy in your chest,
Your heart,
And your head,
Your mind,
Slowly floating out in front of you and then above you.
Watch it float.
Your physical body stays right where it is.
With your chin up,
Your shoulders relaxed,
Your spine upright,
Your hips,
Your legs,
And your feet still grounded to the earth beneath you.
The energy floating above you is your consciousness.
Watch it float.
Watch it light up.
Just a few feet above the room.
You are looking down now.
You see the bodies.
You hear the noise,
But it can't touch you.
You observe the chatter.
The chaos is below you.
But from up here,
You also notice something else.
You notice that everyone else has a spark of light floating above them too.
We are floating together in the silence of universal consciousness.
High above the material world,
High above the drama of the human experience,
High above the fear,
High above the anxiety.
Just stay here for a moment.
You can still move your body.
You can still do the poses,
But your heart and your mind are up here where it's quiet,
Where it's blissful,
Where there's joy.
Notice how much easier it is to connect with people from this height.
All judgment towards each other and towards ourselves completely melts away.
You aren't connecting to their stress or to their human experience.
You are connecting to their soul.
You are communicating without fear of judgment or retaliation.
You see them now,
Not as the person who is talking too loud or the boss who is stressed,
But as a soul just like yours,
Doing the best they can to find their own light.
From this balcony,
There is an opportunity to feel a deep sense of compassion for their journey.
The friction melts away.
And you realize that in this shared silence,
All the shoulds,
The pressure to perform,
The fear of judgment,
And the heavy expectations of the human experience don't live up here.
In this space,
You are free from the robot mode of society.
You can finally let out that sigh of relief,
Knowing that you are exactly who you need to be.
You are safe.
You are sovereign.
You are enough.
Take a deep breath in and a long,
Slow sigh of relief.
This is your true home.
It's time to come back down.
But we are bringing that light with us.
Gently,
Like a feather,
Let your heart float back into your chest.
Let your mind float back into your head.
You are back in the room with the earth still supporting you beneath your feet.
Notice your physical body and any tension that has melted away.
Notice if the aches have subsided.
Roll your shoulders.
Wiggle your fingers.
Withdraw your hands.
Wiggle your toes.
You are back in the room.
You are clear.
You are loved.
You are enough.
You are sovereign.
As you open your eyes,
Remember that this sanctuary,
This balcony is always there for you to return to.
You can lift your heart and your mind back to this quiet space,
Back to this light whenever the world gets too loud.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
Namaste.
Today,
The light within me bows to the light within you.
