Welcome to the Whispering Willow.
I am Diana,
And this is the second meditation in a series of four lessons we can learn from the story of Jonah.
Lesson one was about running away,
And today's lesson is about God using our mistakes.
Find a comfortable spot to settle in for a few moments,
Maybe with a cup of coffee,
And reflect on the story of Jonah with me.
Jonah knew he was being foolish.
When he boarded that ship,
He admitted he was running from God.
Yet when things turned bad,
He accepted responsibility.
In Jonah 1.
12,
He tells the ship's captain,
The crew tried to avoid taking such drastic measures,
But when God has a plan,
Nothing against it will succeed.
Left with no choice,
They threw Jonah overboard.
But Jonah had already witnessed to them about God.
Once they saw the hand of God calm the sea,
The Bible says the crew greatly feared the Lord,
Offered a sacrifice to the Lord,
And made vows to Him.
Their experience with Jonah ended in a witness to God's power.
If you knew that the next time you made a mistake at work,
Your boss would use it to witness to others and bring them closer to God,
That would take a lot of the pressure of perfection off of you.
As you go through your day today,
It might be nice to contemplate the ways the Lord has used one of your bad choices or mistakes to His own glory.
I hope your choices today are Christ-centered,
But if you make a mistake,
And we all do,
Remember that God can use that too,
And He offers no condemnation.
If you enjoyed this meditation,
Come back for another lesson from the story of Jonah in lesson number three.
