Mantra Meditation.

Please sit comfortably and close your eyes.

Before we begin our meditation,

Let's ask ourselves three soul questions.

You may not know the answers to these questions,

And that's okay.

Asking these questions just prior to meditation is a good time to open the door to receiving the answers.

They may come to you while you're asking the question,

Or later in the day,

Or next week.

It doesn't matter.

Question number one is,

Who am I?

Feel in your body the presence that is there.

Imagine that you have no name and no past.

Who am I?

The second question is,

What do I want?

What do I really want?

The answer can be material,

Physical,

Spiritual,

Emotional,

Anything you'd like to see materialize.

If you get an answer,

Just allow it to be without judging it,

Or thinking about it,

Or trying to work it out for now.

The final question is,

What is my purpose?

What is my purpose or dharma in life?

Now let go and allow the universe to work out the details.

Take a deep breath in,

And exhale it out.

Now begin repeating your mantra.

If you don't have a personal mantra,

Repeat the sound,

Om.

Remember that the repetition of the sound is effortless,

Gentle,

And relaxed.

There's no need to concentrate or force it.

In fact,

You're hearing it more than repeating it.

As you hear your mantra,

You may notice it changes.

It may get faster or slower,

Louder or softer,

Or it may even become distorted.

However your sound changes,

Continue to hear the repetition without resisting or anticipating changes.

You're merely observing it.

From time to time,

You may notice that your attention has drifted away from your mantra to other thoughts in your mind,

A noise in your environment,

Or a sensation in your body.

Whenever you notice that your attention has drifted away from your mantra,

Gently bring it back to your mantra.

Remember to let go of any expectations you may have during the practice.

If you notice you're focusing on a sensation,

Mood,

Or emotion,

Or waiting for some experience to happen,

Treat this as you would any other thought,

And gently bring your attention back to your mantra.

Please continue meditating gently.

I'll watch the time so you can continue meditating until I bring you out.

When you hear the bell,

Please continue with your eyes closed for a few moments.

Take a deep breath,

Exhale,

And with your eyes still closed,

Bring your attention back into the room.

Feel the cushion or chair you're sitting on and any sensations in your body.

Now listen to the sounds in the room or outside.

When you're ready,

Please open your eyes slowly.

Namaste.
