Write your future memoir.
There can be a very fine line between fiction and nonfiction.
Often people write stories based on their own lives and then change the names and details to create a novel.
But the feelings and experiences are all true.
Imagination transforms nonfiction into fiction.
The reverse can also be true.
We can write stories that have not happened yet and then live into them.
We can write the stories we want to live.
We can imagine lives that we want to have in the future.
Everything in my life began as an idea on the page.
I continue to imagine new experiences into existence through brainstorms,
Visualizations,
The waking dream time,
And imagination.
Let's imagine your future memoir now,
Too.
Get comfortable,
Allowing your eyes to lower,
Shutting out any ambient light.
Breathe deeply in and deeply out.
Imagine light streaming down from above through the top of your head and out through the bottoms of your feet into the earth.
Affirm your willingness to release anything that may be distracting or blocking you right now.
Imagine any heaviness or stagnant blocks of energy in your body dissolving into the earth.
Imagine now that you are beginning to walk up a mountain path.
It's a very tall mountain,
But your pace is steady and smooth.
You are assisted by invisible guides and guardians as you ascend easily up the majestic mountain through the trees.
Hear the songs of the birds,
The whistle of the wind.
Feel the air growing cooler as you climb higher and higher.
The trees are bright green and smell like pine,
Sage,
And sandalwood.
Instead of feeling heavier as you climb,
You feel lighter and lighter.
Even though you've never been here before,
You are sure-footed,
And you know the way.
As you begin to reach the peak of the mountain,
You see a beautiful warm door covered in symbols and images.
Staring at these images,
You feel a deep soul stirring,
And as you open the door,
You feel the familiar sense of coming home.
The inside of this house is beautiful,
Just like everything you've ever hoped or wanted your home to be.
There is an entire wall made of glass overlooking the mountain and deep into the valley below.
Facing this breathtaking view is a beautiful desk and chair.
Sit in the chair feeling comfortable and very at home.
Reach for a glass of cold water sitting on the desk and drink deeply.
Now notice the pen and a beautiful journal open in front of you.
As you pick up the pen,
Thoughts and images begin to flood your mind.
You begin to remember details about this home,
What it's truly like here for you,
And for anyone else who lives here too.
Maybe this is your dream home,
Or maybe it's a place you've stayed sometime before.
Looking at your hands,
You realize you are many years into your own future.
You feel full of love,
Joy,
Peace,
And happiness.
Everything you have ever wanted has come true.
Life has unfolded beyond your wildest imaginings.
You know right now that your life has been filled with blessing upon blessing,
And that you have been a blessing for many other people too.
As the memories and details of this rich and glorious life come forward,
Begin to write in the journal,
Starting each sentence with the words,
I remember.
What do you remember from your own future?
Where are places that you have gone?
Who do you love,
And who loves you?
Allow these images to bubble forth in your mind,
And imagine that you are writing them down.
What fun have you had?
What meaningful work have you been able to accomplish?
What have been the best feelings you've experienced?
What dreams have come true?
How has it felt as all of these miracles have unfolded?
Take some more time to write.
I remember.
Feel the joy and love and peace from your future memories bubbling up in your body.
Feel the wonder,
The miracle,
The unexpected joy.
Who knew all of this could happen to you?
Enjoy the feeling of discovery and surprise.
What plot twists and unexpected joy has happened to you?
When you're done writing,
Pick up the journal and take it with you.
Give thanks and gratitude to this beautiful house.
And as you walk out the door,
Know that you will return.
Begin to make your way slowly,
Smoothly,
And gently back down the mountain path,
Accompanied by your angels and your guides.
Feel full of the beautiful memories you have created.
Begin very slowly to return back to the here and now,
To the present moment,
Feeling into your hands and your feet,
Feeling into your fingers and your toes,
Into your clothing,
Into your own body,
And the comfort and home of your own skin.
As you are ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Reach for your journal and pen and transcribe what you have written.
Your future memoir is about to begin.
