Hey guys,
Welcome back for another guided meditation.
Today we're going to be working on loving others.
Now if this is something that's new to you,
I suggest you go back and listen to the meditation about loving yourself.
Before we can shine this light on others,
It's important that we're able to turn it inward onto ourselves.
Once you're here,
Once you're ready to start bringing this energy outward to the people around you,
Find your comfortable seat.
You guys know you can't get it wrong,
Just find somewhere where you can be comfortable and still.
You feel relaxed and safe.
That gentle flow of breath past your nose,
All the way down into your belly.
Choose your anchor carefully.
Something that's there to bring you back whenever you feel lost.
Make a few gentle supporting breaths here.
As you feel at peace,
Start to picture yourself sitting in a room.
This room is familiar,
It's safe.
It's comfortable.
Sitting across from you is another being.
This being is one that you truly love,
That you truly care for.
It can be a partner,
It can be a parent,
A child,
A friend,
It can be a pet.
Who it is doesn't matter as long as that feeling is strong.
As you look at this being,
As you stare into their eyes,
Start to express what they mean to you.
Express how important they are to you,
How much you care for them,
How much you love them.
This expression of love doesn't have to be verbal,
It can be just a look.
As you stare into their eyes,
You know that they understand.
Start to bring your attention back to their eyes.
Start to look deeper and deeper until eventually you find yourself behind the eyes of this other being,
Looking back at yourself.
And just as before,
Express those same feelings of love and of care,
Of compassion,
Of kindness.
This time back towards yourself from behind the eyes of this other being.
Allow these feelings to wash over the both of you.
As you sit under this blanket of love.
When you feel everything.
It needed to be said,
Everything that needed to be expressed was done.
Allow that being to leave.
All of a sudden sitting in front of you is another being.
This one maybe you know from passing,
Maybe it's someone you work with,
Maybe it's the bus driver,
The cashier at the grocery store.
When you see semi-regularly but not someone you know,
Just as before,
Start to look into their eyes.
As you do,
You notice something,
A spark,
A flicker,
A little light that you recognize from that first being who you truly love.
There's something there that's the same.
Also once again you begin to share those expressions of love and compassion and kindness.
Toward this being,
In reality you don't know that well.
But there's something there that's familiar.
Something there that brings you peace and comfort.
Something that feels right to express these feelings of love.
Just as before,
You look into this being's eyes until eventually your behind there is looking back at you.
And it comes again those same expressions of love and compassion and kindness.
Something from this being that seemed to be a stranger only a few moments ago.
All of a sudden you're in this space where they are telling you how much they care for you.
And you find yourself under this thick,
Warm,
Heavy blanket of love.
When you feel the time is right,
This other being leaves.
Same way that they came.
And then just as soon as that happens,
Another being is there sitting across from you.
And this time it is someone that you know.
But it's somebody who's wronged you,
Who's hurt you,
Who's caused you pain either directly or indirectly.
Now this isn't about forgiving this being.
This isn't about thinking that what they did was right.
But as you begin to look into their eyes,
Past this incarnation that hurt you,
That wronged you,
You see that same familiar spark.
It may be a bit deeper,
It may be a bit harder to find,
But it is there.
So even if you feel as though you need to move past the being in front of you to get to that light,
You find yourself able to express those same feelings of love,
Of compassion and of kindness.
Because you find that point of familiarity.
Again,
It doesn't have to be a verbal expression,
It can be a look,
But it's there.
As you continue to look into their eyes,
You find yourself behind them,
Looking back at yourself.
And once again those same feelings,
Those same expressions come pouring out.
Love of compassion,
Of kindness,
Of caring.
No matter how much you didn't expect to hear those things from this being,
There they are.
As soon as that being came,
They're gone.
Sitting in that space,
But it feels a little different than before.
It's a little more awareness that you and everyone else is not only capable of this level of love and connection,
But worthy.
This meditation wasn't about forgiving or forgetting those who've hurt you.
Wasn't about getting to know strangers.
It's about understanding that there is that place in all of us that is the same.
That place that not only wants to receive love,
But wants to give it.
So let that be the thing that you take with you.
Let that be the awareness that you carry into the rest of your day.
Stay as long as you need.
When you're ready,
Start to gently blink your eyes open and allow the outside world back in.
Thank you guys.
See you next time.
