Welcome to this new day.
Begin by lying down or sitting with your spine straight,
Whatever feels most comfortable for you right now.
And I invite you to lift the corners of your mouth.
Even if it feels forced,
I encourage you to bring a slight smile or a big smile to your face,
Inviting some gratitude that you woke up today,
A privilege many others did not get.
Our brain doesn't know the difference between a real or a fake smile.
And now bring to mind three things you're grateful for in this moment,
Pausing after each one to really feel the gratitude.
And now bring your awareness into your breath.
No effort or changes required at first,
Just noticing your breath.
Your breath that is with you every step of your journey,
From the beginning until the end.
Just being present with your breath now.
And now we'll take some deep conscious breaths.
Start by breathing in through the nose,
Belly and ribcage expanding,
Holding gently at the top,
And then whenever you're ready to release it out through the mouth with the H-ah sound.
And on your own time,
Take five more deep breaths just like that.
In through the nose,
Belly and ribcage expanding,
Holding at the top,
And whenever you're ready,
Letting it out with a sigh.
Staying connected with your intentional breaths.
And now wherever you're at,
Take one hand and gently,
Kindly place it over your heart and your other hand and place it over your belly.
And you can say to yourself or out loud,
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
And you can release your hands.
Whenever you're ready,
Begin making small movements,
Maybe rolling your wrists,
Your ankles.
Whenever you're ready,
Gently opening your eyes to this new day.
And I encourage you that when you get up and you next see a mirror,
Maybe after brushing your teeth or going to the bathroom,
Take the time to look into your own eyes and say,
I love you,
Ten times.
And then just notice how you feel.
Thank you for practicing with me this morning.
Have a beautiful rest of your day.
Namaste.
