I find a quick,
Self-focused loving-kindness practice to be a great way to calm and focus before,
During,
Or after a stressful situation.
This practice works well in a quiet corner of an office,
A parked car,
Or anywhere that allows for a few minutes to take some time for yourself.
First,
Let's take a second to get as comfortable as we can.
Sit or lay down and close your eyes if you can.
Let's start by fully feeling three breaths.
Focus on where you feel your breath.
Your nostrils,
Your chest,
Or your belly.
Silently note rising on the in-breath and falling on the out-breath.
Let's start.
Rising,
Falling.
Rising,
Falling.
Rising,
Falling.
Now direct these phrases to yourself,
As you are the one that could use some loving-kindness at this time.
May I be safe.
May I be happy.
May I be healthy.
May I live with ease.
Let's silently repeat this a couple more times.
When your mind starts to wander,
Just notice and gently bring it back to the phrases.
May I be safe.
May I be happy.
May I be healthy.
May I live with ease.
May I be safe.
May I be happy.
May I be healthy.
May I live with ease.
Use this quick practice anytime you feel stressed or anxious.
Try to incorporate this simple practice into the days that you may be dreading a stressful situation as well.
Thanks for practicing with me.
