This is a calming bedtime story known as one of my favorite of Aesop's fables: "The Lion and the Mouse." This charming bedtime story illustrates how a kindness can (sometimes, unexpectedly) be rewarded in the future. This somewhat exemplifies "Paying it Forward." This can work well as a children's bedtime story. The background music, "Glacier Sunrise," also available as a purely musical track (here on IT). Any donations help Ari to be able to continue creating Music & these stories. Cheers!

Hello.

Welcome back to Enlightening Bedtime Stories.

Our story today deals with the understanding of the importance of kindness.

Our story is called The Lion and the Mouse.

A lion lay asleep in the forest.

His great head resting on his paws.

Close by there was a timid little mouse who was foraging for food and enjoying the bright and beautiful day.

The little mouse came upon the lion unexpectedly and in his fright and haste to get away ran across the lion's nose.

Nice woke the lion and he was obviously quite surprised.

Roused from his nap the lion laid his huge paw angrily on the tiny creature.

Spare me begged the poor mouse please let me go and some day I will surely repay you.

The lion was much amused to think that a mouse could ever help him.

The lion was at first hesitant to let the mouse go.

However he was feeling generous.

The lion set the mouse free.

Some days later while stalking his prey in the forest the lion was caught in the toils of a hunter's net.

Unable to free himself he filled the forest with his angry roar.

The mouse who was not too far away heard this noise and knew that voice.

He searched a little while and found the lion struggling in the net.

Turning to one of the great ropes that bound him the mouse chewed and chewed on the rope until it parted.

And soon the lion was free.

The lion spoke.

You did what you said and helped me when I needed it.

I can now understand that even a mouse can help a lion.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The moral of the story.

This is never wasted.
