Oh,
Honey,
I know that you don't feel very good right now,
But that's okay,
Actually.
I know it doesn't feel okay,
But you can be with this.
You can be with this,
Too.
You can rage against it.
That's okay,
Too.
You can be sad,
In despair,
Demoralized,
Frustrated,
Angry.
It can be all of these things with whatever sensations,
Whatever feelings,
Emotions,
Thoughts,
Stories that are inside of you right now,
Causing distress.
You are a human being,
And unfortunately,
As humans,
Suffering is part of the deal.
Well,
If we are alive,
There is that possibility of suffering,
And that,
Too,
Is okay.
It's okay in the sense that it is human,
It is normal.
This will pass.
It really will.
I know it feels like it won't,
But it will.
Everything passes and changes and shifts,
Moves.
Even things that stay the same for years,
If you really pay attention,
They,
Too,
Shift and change.
The feelings and stories and thoughts around them shift and change.
Your relationship,
Too,
It can shift and change.
Your perspective,
Your focus,
All of these things make any given day a snapshot of a complex,
Nuanced picture of all the things happening inside of you right now,
All of your internal experiences,
All that makes you feel not okay right now,
In distress.
These are all part of this complex combination of things inside you that inevitably shift and change into a new snapshot.
If we took a picture tomorrow,
It would look different.
Even an hour from now will look a little bit different than it does right now.
If you really pay attention,
You'll notice these changes and shifts,
These movements.
Some things may fall away and other things,
New things may arise.
All of this is normal.
All of this is part of the human experience.
Although what you are feeling right now may make you feel quite alone,
Lonely,
You are so not alone.
Even as we speak,
You are not alone.
There are so many souls alongside you.
People you may not know or cannot see,
Who are suffering and in distress just like you,
Who don't know what to do,
Who don't know where to turn,
Who may even feel at their end.
And all of you,
All of you,
All of us,
We are not alone,
Even in our darkest moments.
I dare say,
Especially in our darkest moments,
We are not alone.
In this being human,
In this being alive,
We are part of this enormous tapestry of humanity.
Suffering and joy are woven throughout.
Everyone experiences all of the above.
You are not alone.
This will pass.
It really will.
In the meantime,
You can take a breath.
Allow for a longer exhale.
You may even want to place a hand on your heart or somewhere in your body that feels comforting.
Close your eyes and just give yourself a message of compassion.
Like,
Oh honey,
I know you're hurting right now.
I know you're hurting.
I see you.
I hear you.
I'm not going anywhere.
I'll stand by you.
I'm here and I've got your back.
And I'm going to do my very best to protect you.
These are things you can remind yourself whenever you need to.
Even just pressing play on this recording will help be a reminder to you.
And if it feels good,
You can take another deep breath before we close.
With a long,
Slow exhale.
And remember,
You're not alone.
Thanks for being here with me and I will see you next time.
