Meditation is a deep form of self-study.
This does not mean it has to have a big aha moment,
Neither at the beginning,
The middle or the end.
And to be honest,
If you are hoping for that,
I am not sure you will find it here.
Eureka is built into stillness.
Stillness is the aha moment.
It is in stillness that everything and nothing arrives and the ultimate minimalist party begins.
This is Eureka.
Let us try now.
No party can start without a buildup of some preparation.
Even a tea party has to have tea.
For a stillness to arrive,
We have to find the parts that are not still.
And as Captain Picard of the Enterprise would say,
Make it so.
As we all begin to discover the shifty parts,
It takes about 90 seconds for the motor neurons to release just a little bit of their jumpiness,
Their active impulses,
Before we can really allow the body to settle.
So you can put a timer on the clock.
But I will give us a minute and a half now,
Just so you can see how that feels to be in stillness.
So prepare yourself,
Perhaps breathe in and breathe out long and slow,
And we begin.
We need to encourage the stillness to remain for another few minutes,
So that the body becomes familiar with the pulsation within,
So that the mind focuses more on the body and its stillness,
Rather than the workings of the mind,
Which are often in the past or our future.
So give permission for your mind to become familiar with stillness,
Which is an ongoing study of the self.
However you are,
Wherever you are,
This decision to remain is an active participation of awareness into stillness.
Awareness should be celebrated as one of our best allies for well-being and mental health.
Without awareness we would be all over the shop.
Of course some may fare better than others for various reasons,
Which I will try to explain someday.
But awareness is our watchdog.
Awareness is your personal watchdog.
And when awareness is in optimal health,
It becomes our mentor,
Our teacher.
Awareness becomes our compass.
You do not have to be an expert at stopping,
Because stopping is a part of everyday living and you are already an expert on you.
Most of us know already what we need to do to feel better.
And when we seek out stillness,
The map of exactly how to pave our way to wellness arrives.
You you Aha.
Thank you for joining me in Aha.
