Hello everybody,

Welcome to day three.

I'm so happy you are diving in on this journey with me.

To start,

Quote from the Dalai Lama,

If you want others to be happy,

Practice compassion.

If you want to be happy,

Practice compassion.

Compassion is showing someone kindness,

Caring,

And the willingness to help.

When you act with compassion,

It's the idea that you're putting yourself into someone else's shoes and trying to feel what they're going through.

As you may know,

The simple act of smiling,

Whether you're happy or not,

Tricks your brain into sending out endorphins and in turn,

Actually makes you happy.

Compassion can be practiced every day and goes hand-in-hand with meditation.

A study by Paul Condon and Dave DiStento of Northeastern University of Massachusetts gathered a group of people with little to no meditation experience and divided the group with meditators and non-meditators.

In over eight weeks,

One group meditated consistently and the other did not.

At the end of the eight-week program,

They put them into a waiting room with a woman using crutches looking like she needed some assistance.

They found that 50% of people who had meditated helped the woman,

Whereas 15% of the non-meditators helped the woman.

So this proves and shows that by choosing to meditate,

You are choosing to be more empathetic,

Choosing to be happier,

And choosing to be healthier.

So as we start our meditation practice today,

Let's remind ourselves of the joy compassion brings to others in our lives and also the joy it brings to ourselves.

So let's start by taking our three breaths in through the nose,

Out through the mouth,

In through the nose,

And out through the mouth.

Last breath in through the nose,

And out through the mouth.

Now let your natural breath take over as we listen to the sound bowl.
