A Perfectionism Practice: Progress Over The Finish Line
by Guy Ferdman
Perfectionism keeps score against a finish line that keeps moving, which means the gap between where you are and where you think you should be never actually closes, no matter how much ground you cover. This meditation shifts the measurement itself, using breath paired with silently naming one small, real thing that's moved since you started, not the finished version, just motion. Progress is quieter than perfection and easier to discount, but it's the only part of any project that was ever genuinely in your control. Useful any time you're deep in something and the gap feels louder than the ground you've already covered. A meditation for perfectionism that measures direction instead of distance from an ideal.
