To be carried through this life in such an intricate vessel is an honor I will never again take for granted.
She is a dear,
Dear friend who is always there,
Anchored to my soul and lovingly holding me tight.
She will fight for me with all she has despite the countless times I have treated her poorly.
I have overworked and underfed her.
I have blamed her.
I have tried to shrink,
Change,
And mold her.
I really fought against her,
Yet she stays.
She fights for me every single day.
She is the ultimate example of forgiveness,
And after all these years,
I need to thank her for that.
Let's all take a moment of appreciation for our own vessel that allows our existence in this world.
Go ahead and close your eyes.
Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out.
A deep breath in and a deep breath out.
Place one hand on your belly and one hand on your chest.
Connect with your heart.
Feel its pulse beating,
Breathing warm life energy through your body.
Thank you,
Heart,
For beating your song,
For paving my path of love and trust.
Thank you,
Belly,
For expanding to hold breath and grow life.
Thank you,
Thighs,
For holding me strong,
For taking up space and taking me places.
Thank you,
Feet,
For being my anchor,
For spreading the energy passed from the earth,
For guiding me home when I wander too far.
Thank you,
Eyes,
For letting me see the vibrant colors of the great artist's work,
The greens of the trees,
The browns of the earth,
The blues of the skies,
And the silvers of the stars.
Thank you,
Ears,
For hearing the whispered words from those I hold most dear.
Thank you,
Mouth,
For tasting the sweetness of it all.
Thank you,
Dear body,
For taking up space,
For not shrinking back to how I used to be.
For that girl was not the woman I am today.
For this woman,
This body,
She has a story to tell.
It's one of joy,
Of travel,
Of countless sunsets and sunrises.
It's one of perseverance,
Of hard work and grit and pain.
It's one of expansion and birth and joy.
It's one of exhaustion and a love so big she could burst.
These freckles,
These wrinkles,
These scars,
They hold it all,
The secrets,
The map of the beautiful life I am living.
So thank you,
Body,
For telling that story,
For paving my way,
Carrying my spirit,
Allowing my growth.
I will never again see you through eyes half-blinded.
We are dear friends,
The only friends who will never part till our last breath together.
So thank you for holding me through this life.
You are joy.
You are everything.
Thank you,
My dear,
Sweet body.
Your body holds so much power.
It holds its own unique story.
What is your story?
Your body is constantly exchanging and carrying energy,
Working to keep your heart breathing and your mind connecting.
It is always adapting to try and keep you alive.
It will choose you every single time.
It is your very best advocate.
In a tiny split second,
It could decide to end it all.
But it doesn't.
It keeps beating your heart,
Expanding your lungs with air,
Firing connections in your brain and allowing you to have this human experience.
What an incredible vessel you get to tether your soul to while here on earth.
What an incredible blessing to have her as a friend.
Sometimes,
We don't treat her as a friend.
She is doing the very best she can.
We are sometimes cruel in the way we treat her.
Trying to shrink her,
Mold her,
Control her.
Can we try and change that?
One of the incredible things about our bodies is that they are so forgiving and so incredibly resilient.
It doesn't matter how poorly you've treated your body.
It's never too late.
You can always do better.
You can always turn it around.
It might take some time for her to trust you again.
But it's never too late.
She has not left you.
She will never leave you.
When you're ready,
Go ahead and open your eyes.
Take in your surroundings.
Our bodies are not perfect.
Every body has its own unique challenges.
But it's important to remember that your body is not fighting against you.
She is on your side.
She is doing the very best she can with the environment that she is in.
It's time to love her.
Appreciate what she does for you.
What she allows you to do on this earth.
She is incredible.
Whenever you're having negative thoughts about your body for whatever reason.
How it looks,
How it feels,
What it's going through.
I invite you to come back to this meditation and remember the gratitude and appreciation we can feel for this dear,
Dear friend of ours.
Thank you for joining me today and have a beautiful rest of your day.
