Hello and welcome to this quick reset.
Can be done in the morning,
Middle of the workday,
At the end of the day to reset before bed,
Whenever works for you.
So we're actually going to start this with our eyes open.
Really grounding into the space that we're in and becoming present to this moment.
So let your eyes gently wander around the room that you're in.
Noticing the things in your space.
Trying,
If we can,
Not to lay judgment on anything,
Just drinking it all in.
It's easy when we're busy to forget where we actually are.
So let your eyes show you that you're in the present moment.
Maybe look behind you.
And find a space in front where you can let your eyes rest gently.
Keeping them open.
Softening the gaze and just grounding into this moment here.
There's nowhere else for you to be.
Sometimes when we're feeling stressed or nervous or our nervous system is in fight or flight our gaze can narrow and we can become focused in on the things that are worrying us but by softening our gaze and letting in our peripheral vision.
We soften our mind.
And we remind ourselves of the bigger picture.
So with your gaze forwards,
See if you can just expand your awareness to what's in the periphery of your vision and drink that in for a couple of moments.
When you're ready,
You can close the eyes or if you prefer,
Send your gaze towards the ground.
And just notice how it feels to be in your body right now.
Notice which parts of you make contact with the floor or the chair that you're sitting on.
How your spine is feeling.
Where your hands are placed.
No judgement,
Just noticing what we find and welcoming it all.
If we want to make an adjustment here,
We can,
But we make it slowly and intentionally,
With kindness to ourselves.
Now allowing the attention to come to the breath.
Again we're not controlling anything here,
We're just becoming present to what is.
Noticing the in-breath where we feel this enter the body,
How it changes our diaphragm and our stomach and our chest.
Noticing how things change as we exhale the breath and we let go.
Where do we feel that breath on the exhale?
How does this change our body as we let it go?
Not trying to do anything with the breath here,
Just following it with our attention.
If our mind wanders,
We bring it back like we would a sweet puppy that's gotten excited and distracted by something.
We call our attention back to the breath.
Following it on the inhale and the exhale.
Remembering there's nowhere else we need to be right now.
You might notice that your breath naturally lengthens as your attention falls on it.
Keep our attention soft.
And our breath light.
As we come into presence with it.
Thoughts come in we let them go we observe them like they're clouds in the sky passing through We see them.
We don't judge them.
We let them come and go and bring our attention back to the breath.
Now we're just going to become aware of any sounds that enter our awareness.
Again,
There's no judgement on what we hear.
We're opening our attention to the sounds in the space around us the sounds our body might be making.
The sounds outside the space we are in.
Welcome all into your attention as part of this present moment.
When you're ready,
Maintaining this sense of presence to body,
Mind and space.
We can lift the gaze or open the eyes if they were closed.
Keeping that soft awareness as we take in our space yet again.
Noticing what might have changed.
Being kind to ourselves no matter what we find.
Being grateful to ourselves for gifting this moment of presence.
