Namaskar Sadhguruji,

This is Ayushman Khurana and I'm a very politically aware person.

And politically,

India is in a very vulnerable space because it's a pluralistic society.

We have so many cultures,

Religions,

Regions,

Castes,

Color,

Creed.

And I firmly believe that both extreme right wing and left wing are extremely dangerous.

And my political standing is probably the center.

So what do you think is the correct stand?

Ayushman,

One who lives long,

A living democracy means you never take a stance of any kind,

If you want a living democracy.

This happened in a very strong way in United States.

This became like two different religions in United States.

Are you a democrat or you're a republican?

No,

My grandfather was a republican,

My father was a republican,

So I'm also a republican.

It's all decided beforehand.

So in a living democracy,

You should never take a stance,

This is something we've forgotten.

Our country is also moving in that direction.

Do you belong here or there?

Well,

I've not made up my mind for the next election.

Let me see,

Who performs how?

Who makes more sense?

Am I right,

Left,

Center?

No.

The moment you take this stance,

You are destroying democracy because you are taking it back to feudalism.

We are.

.

.

This tribe means we will only vote this way.

That tribe means we'll only vote that way.

You've finished off the democracy,

There is no democracy left.

Right now,

In United States,

I think the deciding factor is only about four to five percent of the people decide who wins,

Who loses.

Rest of the people are all fixed already.

In India,

The percentage probably is in the range of ten to twelve percent,

Maybe maximum fifteen percent,

But I think post this coming election,

We will also get to percentages like United States because it is getting so vitiated that you have to belong here or there.

You cannot say you don't belong anywhere.

I don't care who you elected.

The important thing is change of power happens without bloodshed.

That's the big thing about democracy.

Slowly,

As you become tribal mindset,

I belong to this tribe or that tribe,

You are again taking it back to your place where there will be tribal warfare every time we want to change power.

This is what will happen.

So Ayushman,

You should not take any stance.

At the end of four-and-a-half years,

Take four to six months to evaluate what has happened.

Whatever has happened in this four-and-a-half years,

Is it worthwhile to give them one more chance or is it better to get a new set of people is something that every citizen must take a call in the last three to six months.

So it is time that we mature as a democracy.

There is no need to take any stance.

Briljant and very sensible to take no stands, just be aware, evaluate and adjust our position accordingly to maintain true democracy. Thank you!

This is a very good point. And sadly, I agree with you about the situation in my country, the US. There are so many who are single party voters. They hardly ever vote for the other party, even if it is in their own self interests to do so. The country is very polsrized and it’s a shame.

This. This is exactly why I changed from being registered to one particular party to "Unaffiliated" - so I have the freedom to objectively look at performance and policies without all the pressure a party line can - and used to, when I was registered to one - bring to bear. It is a responsibility for every citizen (I'm in the USA, so I speak from that perspective) to be informed and to exercise their right and power to vote equally responsibly. I think there are some who blindly follow a party, but I think the majority of voters vote without doing enough research or having enough information before they take their ballots. The party line then becomes a default. I also think that more people now, since the 2016 election, are starting to do that research, to take this democracy ideal, more seriously as they see how the results of an election really does have impacts on their personal lives. This new awareness and activity is a good thing. I have been unable to articulate it as concisely as this, however, so I am bookmarking it to share with others. Thank you very much for sharing this. I see the light in you. 🤲❤️🤲

God Bless you for this wonderful wisdom, I have felt this way for many, many years, and I am amazed when educated people close their minds to the truth and blindly follow their families, the masses, the media, etc... instead of using their common sense & following their own hearts❣️

Dogmatic and traditional adherence to any political party without regard to its immediate policies and record is madness..
