White Noise - Distant Waves.
by Ryan Garner
I recently spent a couple of days in Whitby hoping to gather some sounds whilst there. Unfortunately, the weather had other plans. It was extremely rainy and incredibly windy, with very strong gusts. However, not being deterred, I scoured the beach in search of sounds. Eventually, I came across a little cave in the side of the rock face. I went in to escape the wind and rain and noted a dripping sound as rainwater seeped through the rocks above. In the distance, I could hear the continuous hum, roar, and hiss of the distant ocean and the wind sweeping past outside the cave area. This struck me as quite a unique sound, so I decided to hit record in the cave where all the equipment was protected & listened as the equipment captured the sounds. I couldn't stay long because the tide was approaching the cave very quickly. I caught a picture of the cave on leaving to accompany this recording.
