Welcome to the Practical Consciousness podcast with James and Lisa, Where we help you tap into your highest selves in everyday life. Hi, Welcome to Practical Consciousness. I'm James. And I'm Lisa. We are going to talk about a topic that I'm pretty fond of actually, Especially recently. We're going to talk about being 100% spiritual and 100% human. And living a life or this physical experience in this physical world, In 100% of ourselves being spiritual and 100% of ourselves being human. I'm just going to ask Lisa right now, When I say 100% human and 100% spiritual, What's your reaction to that? Well, Just because I've heard you talk about it before, I think that it means it's okay to be human and it's okay to be spiritual. Sometimes you're one, Sometimes you're the other, Sometimes you're a mix. Was there a time when you saw it as mutually exclusive? Probably, Yes. Probably before I started down a path of, A spiritual path, When I was mostly living in my head and, You know, Like before I was meditating on a regular basis. Mostly living in my head and kind of looked at spirituality. Actually I kind of looked at spirituality and religion, Kind of the same thing. I didn't really understand the difference. So that's what I would say. Just more when I was living in my head all the time. Always thinking about the future, Worrying about the past, Just being in my head. Yeah, I actually appreciate you saying that because that's kind of why it becomes a conflict. A lot of people, When they first start down their own spiritual path and or they start becoming more conscious and becoming more awake and some, What some people would call more enlightened is, It's a weird thing, But the ego kind of grabs onto it. And the judgment, They used to be an outward thing, Right? We would judge, Well, We certainly judge ourselves, But we would judge others as well. And we sort of become aware of how things are because our consciousness comes up, Right? We see things. But then all of a sudden we start judging ourselves because we do, We still do human things. We still judge others. We still have feelings. We still have emotions. We still have desires. We still like the experiences of physical things. And all of a sudden our ego, Who's identified us with being good because we're enlightened or we're awake or we're high consciousness, Starts telling us, Well, That's bad. You can't, You're spiritual now. You're a spiritual person. You can't do those things. Yes. I think that happens to a lot of people newly on the path. It definitely does. And all of a sudden there's this, It's almost like a depression. There's almost like this, This catabolic energy around this idea that now that I'm woke up, I took the blue pill. Was it the blue pill or the, What was it in the matrix? Which pill gets you out of the matrix? I don't remember. When you take that pill, Whatever color that was, Blue or red, I can't remember either blue or green. You, You are essentially now woke up and you see how things work. Yeah. And all of a sudden you become depressed. Yeah. And confused. And confused. I remember being confused. Yeah. Yeah. So when we talk about being a hundred percent spiritual and a hundred percent human, It's, It's, It's really taking your ego out of it altogether and, And looking at that path and understand that we're here in this experience to experience this physical plane. Right. Right. And do you think that the ego is just part of the a hundred percent human? Well, That's a good question. Um, I mean, Not, I don't know. I just feel like that being, Because we don't want to, We don't want to move the ego into this category of, Of being bad. Right. We want to embrace our ego and, And, And, And love it and know that it's a part of us. So is it part of the human part of us? Oh, Sure. Yeah. I mean, Anything, Anything, Uh, In our physical body is in the physical human side. Right. Um, I'm reading this book right now. Um, Uh, Shoot, I already forgot the name of it. Uh, Anyway, Um, You can't ask me. I know it's terrible. Um, But crystal used to help you out with that. I know. Um, Anyway, Uh, Gene codes, Geez, It has something to do with human design, Which I'd love to talk about. Um, In a podcast, Um, We should add that to our list. I love that idea. But, Um, The idea is that in, Is that, Um, He, This author calls it the fire eye, Which is the part of us that's born with us and dies with us. But what, What moves us to take action, What moves us to live our life. And then there's the water eye and the water eye lives before us and it lives after us. And the water eye sees basically there's no purpose. There's no, Everything is just is. And right. That's the spiritual part of us, Right? A hundred percent spiritual. Right. And that's the part of us that is just living the existence without any sort of any, Any, It is, It is the movement of the universe, The, The energy and the flow of the universe and it flows and it's the energy transforms regardless of what we do. Right. Does that make sense? Yeah, That makes sense. So, So I love that kind of way to see it because there's a harmony in it. And even if, Even if you never actually knew about the water eye, Because he also says it, If you look for the water eye, You don't find it. It has to come to you. And so, I know. So I just use that as an example of this, This concept of that we are living in this spiritual existence, But our experience is in the physical plane. Right. And they're not mutually exclusive. Right. So, Right. So looking for the water eye means that you're trying to intellectually connect to it. Is that what it is? And you're supposed to experience it instead? You really can't sort of experience it. Because it's, It's just, I don't know how to explain it. It's like, It's, It's like the, Think of it almost like the space in the middle, In the, In the, In your DNA, Right. Between, I can't think of the outside of the, See, Crystal is also the biologist. So she, Sorry, I can't help you with that. Anyway, The outside of, Of your, Of your cell, Right, Is, Is like, Kind of like the skin around the cell. And then there's that space between that and the nucleus. And you can almost think of it in the sense of, You can't, You, You can't really, You can't really feel. If you, If you and I tried, We can't get inside of our, Of ourselves and feel that, I want to say magna, But that's not it. But the, The, The, That, That space within ourselves, Which you can't really experience it. But, But, But it is taking in the world, Our physical experience, It's taking it in and, And what it's taking is communicating the nucleus and the nucleus is triggering our DNA and we are rebuilding cells and that kind of stuff. So it's like, We're not aware, We're not aware of it. We're not connected to it. Well, I mean, From an intellectual standpoint. Yeah, I guess that's, Yeah. I mean, That's, That's the thing is it's not something we could put in words or something we could express because words are too limiting of it. Right. It's a lot like, Um, The thought of like all the things that all the systems in our body that keep us alive, That are constantly doing things to keep us alive. We're not aware of it. Like we're not connecting to each heartbeat or each, Every, Every time you secrete something in your stomach to digest something. You know what I mean? Like it's all happening all the time. Yes. And you don't, You're not really like, You know, Conceptually that it's there, But you don't think about it at all. You just trust that it's there and it's happening and it's keeping you alive. Exactly. And it's almost like we know, We know that we know that we know, But we can't put words to it. Yeah. And that's, That's the kind of the idea of being a hundred percent spiritual. So and we become high conscious, Meaning that we can know, Know what we know that we know and we can be 100, We can, We can make conscious choices about our experience. Right. So, Okay, You just made me think of something and I think you might've said this in the beginning, Just so people can understand a hundred percent spiritual and a hundred percent human. So we are a hundred percent spiritual regardless of whether or not we're conscious. That's right. Yep. So you don't have to be conscious to be 90% or 80% or whatever. You're a hundred percent spiritual. You're not, Just because you just woke up and you're just now starting down this path doesn't mean you're 20% spiritual. You are a hundred percent spiritual because you are by nature a hundred percent spiritual and a hundred percent human. Yeah. That's as well. That's yeah. I mean, That's exactly the right way to say it. I think is that if you think about it, Um, We vibrate, We manifest whether we know we're doing it or not. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The energy inside of us is moving and transitioning. Um, Cells are growing and dying. That's all happening whether we know it is or we know it isn't. Right. So, Yeah, Exactly. Some of the beliefs that I taught and some of the beliefs that I talk about, About knowing that I have a divine, I have divine helpers around me at all times. I can feel the presence of my higher self, But also my guardian angel and you know, Other helpers that are around me and I don't have to know that I don't have to have that feeling and know they're there to have them there. They're there anyway. They're going to be there whether I'm, I'm aware of them or not. Yeah. It's energy. It's like you're, You're talking about energy and I'm putting names to it. Exactly. And that's, That's, That's a really important point because that's the a hundred percent human aspect of this in that we, We still judge, We still attach, We still say stupid things, We still are selfish. We're still all those sort of shadowy things that we judge as bad and being in a human being, Those don't ever stop. They're, That's part of this experience as part of why we're here and it, You're, You're almost, You're almost, You're almost diminishing the spirituality by denying that the human experience. You know what I mean? Like you mean like calling it bad, You mean calling certain aspects of ourselves bad? Is that what you mean? No. Thinking that we, We were not entitled to want things. Oh, Gotcha. Okay. Is, Is, Is almost denying your spirituality aspect of it too. It's like diminishes in both because like, Let's say, Let's just throw out an example. I'll just use myself as an example actually. I as most of the listeners know, You know, We're, We're now traveling full time in a fifth wheel around the United States. And there was a, There was a point in, In, In, In my, My journey that I viewed that as because I'm, Because I'm a high conscious, I shouldn't need to travel around the country in a fifth wheel. I should be able to find joy and happiness in every moment all the time. And so looking for something external to bring me joy and adventure is, Is not, It's not something that I should look for. And so that's the example I talk about how people all of a sudden they, They're confused as confliction. And all I basically done is I've judged high consciousness and, And that's good. And wanting something as bad, I've judged it through the lens of a spiritual ego basically. Right. Yes. Yes. And, And, And what, And what I, Once I could set that aside, I guess, And, And, And become aware that that's happening, Then all of a sudden you could say, Well, No, Because part of the experience of living my life is, Is the adventures is the, The the scenery changing and experiencing new things and exciting new things. And the, The, The spiritual aspect of me knows that the universe is bringing that to me because I want it. Yes. And that's part of the richness of life is the experience, The desires we want coming to us, Which is why law of attraction works. I mean, Right. Right. Which is being a hundred percent spiritual and a hundred percent human, Having those desires and allowing those things to come into your life by knowing and trusting that they're, That they're there for you if you want them. That's exactly it. Okay. So that let's talk about the practicality of that. Let's talk about the piece of this that is in a practical way. So like staying true to our theme, How do we apply a hundred percent spirituality and a hundred percent human in a practical way? Can you think of anything? Well, I mean, Kind of the, Some of the things you brought up in the beginning, Like by not judging ourselves by being, Being kind to ourselves, Being kind to, I don't know. I guess it's, It's all the things. Yeah. Yeah. It's all the things we talk about. It's meditating, It's getting in touch with your higher self, Being more positive, Finding the joy in life. And then the not judging yourself, Like some of the things you were just talking about for having your desires, For having desires and understanding that you're, You're, You're, You are human. So you've got this human side and that's, And if you, Even though you're on a spiritual path and you want, You know, You desire spirituality, You, You, You are, You are human. So, And you are here on earth and you chose to be here. So you're going to have this human experience. Yeah. And you can't get out of that. Right. There's no way to get out of that. That happens later. That happens later after you're dead and gone. Well, And we don't die. Our spirit lives on. That's exactly, Yeah, That's exactly right. I also say there's an acceptance that has to happen in the sense that, Um, You just accept that, That you are a human being and you want human experiences. Almost give yourself permission. Yeah. And then that great. That's great. A lot of people are going to be like, Really? Yeah. Yeah. Um, Don't deny yourself. I have this, I have this brilliant idea of, Of creating this little permission slip book so people can write permission slips for, You know, Like for themselves to go do things. Um, But one thing that I do when I, When I can feel my energy is in that, In that space of like, I'm, I'm that confliction, That conflicted energy. Um, One of the things I love to do, Um, Is I actually will put my hand on my heart and I ask myself for permission to do whatever it is I want to do. Um, So let's say hypothetically, I wanted to, Um, Uh, I don't know. I'm trying to think of something. I w I want to go buy a new car, Right? I just want a new car. I'm tired of my car. I want a new car. I can put my hand on my heart and I can say, What do I need for, Or no, I'm butchering it. What do I need? What do I need to be okay with buying a new car? And then I pay attention. And something usually will come up in that, In that space and whatever that is, That, That sort of like the, The, The, The harmony of being a hundred percent spiritual and a hundred percent human that the two sides align. Yeah. I love that. And I love the idea of putting your hands on your heart to ask that question too. Well, You and I both know that our hearts, That's where it comes from. Right? Well, Put your hands on your head. Stop it when you're doing that. Don't put your hands on your head. Anybody who listens to our podcast will know they hear, They will hear repeated things. And one of the repeated things as always quit listening to your head. Your head is to do tasks, To, To think, Um, For, Uh, Calculating things and, And solving problems and all, All those things. It is not a guide. It is a terrible guide, But your heart is your heart's your best. Your heart is. Yeah. Listen to your heart. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Well, So there it is. Um, We just kind of wanted to, This, This is a topic near and dear to both of us. Um, It's something we struggle with almost all the time. And like, Yeah, Exactly. And like you said, If you're just starting out kind of on your own spiritual path, You're going to struggle with this concept of being a hundred percent human, A hundred percent spiritual.
