Why Sound Frequencies Affect Your Mind
In this video, I explain what a frequency actually is and why sound is fundamentally a form of vibration. We explore what numbers like 432 Hz or 528 Hz really represent, and how different frequencies simply describe the speed of a vibration moving through the air. Understanding this concept makes it easier to see how sound can influence the nervous system and why certain types of music can support relaxation and mental balance. If you would like to explore these ideas more deeply, I also share a full course here on Insight Timer called The Power of Frequency, where I explain how sound, frequencies, and music can influence the mind and body. If this video and the knowledge I shared helped you discover something new or see sound in a different way, you can leave a small donation here on Insight Timer. Every contribution helps me continue creating educational content and soundscapes to support more people around the world. Giacomo Franzoso, Founder of Point of Attraction Sound.

Hi everyone and welcome back.
My name is James and I work with sound,
Meditation music,
And frequencies designed to support relaxation and nervous system balance.
And today I really want to talk about a word that appears everywhere in meditation music and sound healing.
And that word is frequency.
Now you've probably seen numbers like 432 Hz,
528 Hz,
Or maybe 417 Hz in music titles,
And at some point you may have wondered what those numbers actually mean.
So let's break it down in a very simple way.
A frequency is basically the speed of a vibration.
When something vibrates,
It moves back and forth very quickly.
And the numbers we see like 528 Hz for instance,
It simply tells us how many times that vibration happens in one second.
So if a sound vibrates 528 times every second,
We call that 528 Hz.
Now the interesting part is that every sound we hear is made of these vibrations,
Okay?
I'm talking about music,
Voices,
Even the wind,
Or the sound of rain on a window,
Right?
All of it is just vibration moving through the air.
And your nervous system is constantly responding to those vibrations,
Often without you even realizing it.
For instance,
When you listen to slow,
Spacious music,
Your breathing may naturally slow down as well,
Right?
And your body can begin to relax.
But if you listen to something very fast and intense,
Your mind may become very alert and energized,
Right?
So,
The thing is,
Frequencies are not magical numbers.
They are simply different qualities of vibration.
They shape the character of the sound and the way your body responds to it.
And that is why in my meditation music,
We often choose frequencies very intentionally.
We combine them with slow rhythms and gentle soundscapes to create an environment where the nervous system can simply relax and settle and just feel safe,
Right?
Because that's the whole purpose.
And in my work,
I often combine pure frequencies,
Binaural beats,
And ambient music so instead of hearing just one single tone,
You're actually experiencing multiple layers that support relaxation together.
Now,
If you'd like to understand this more deeply,
I explore this whole process step by step inside my course here on Insight Timer called The Power of Frequency.
But if you'd prefer to just go straight into the experience itself,
You can also explore many of my tracks here on Insight Timer in my teacher profile,
Point of Attraction Sound.
And yeah,
There you'll just find meditation music designed with binaural beats,
Solfeggio frequencies and calming ambient music.
And also,
If you do listen,
I'd really love to hear how the experience feels for you.
So you can always leave a comment and share what you notice while listening.
And as I always love saying,
Because in the end,
Sound is something that's meant to be experienced,
Right?
And not just explained.
