In this track, I explain what brainwaves are and how they reflect the natural states of the mind throughout the day. We explore the five main brainwave patterns—Gamma, Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta—and how each one is connected to different mental states such as focus, relaxation, creativity, and deep rest. By understanding how the brain naturally moves between these rhythms, it becomes easier to see how sound and vibration can interact with the nervous system and influence how we feel. Every contribution helps me create more soundscapes to uplift and heal others. Giacomo Franzoso, Founder of Point of Attraction Sound.

Hello everyone.

So today I want to talk about brainwaves,

Okay?

Have you ever noticed how your mind feels like completely different at different times of the day?

I mean,

Think about it.

Sometimes you're sharp and focused and other times you're just drifting.

Almost like you're in a dream,

Right?

Most of the time we think of the mind as this abstract thing we can't really control but in reality your brain is constantly clicking through different gears and we call these brain waves okay and they basically reflect the speed of your thoughts.

For those who don't know me,

My name is James and I work with sound and music for nervous system regulation.

And today I want to show you how you can actually shift gears using nothing but sound.

Now,

I'm not gonna go too deep into the science right now because I actually created a specific course here on Insight Timer called The Power of Frequency where I really break all this down,

Okay?

But it helps to know the main gears we're talking about,

Okay?

And by gears,

I mean brainwaves.

Everything in your brain is measured in Hertz,

As we talked about in the last video.

Just like sound,

Right?

It sounds technical,

A little bit technical,

I know,

A way to see how fast your brain is working.

Think of it like a car engine.

So I'm gonna use an analogy here.

To drive on the highway,

You need high gear,

Right?

When you're slowing down or parking,

You shift into lower gears,

Correct?

And your brain works exactly the same way.

But what's the problem,

You ask?

Okay,

Let's be honest.

Most of us are stuck in fifth gear all day long.

And I mean between work,

Scrolling through your phone,

And a million notifications,

Right?

Your brain is just racing all the time.

And then we wonder why we can't sleep at night,

Right?

Your engine is still running hot.

That's it.

And you can't just go from.

.

.

I don't know,

100 miles an hour to parked in one second,

Right?

So what are these brainwaves we're talking about?

First,

You have gamma waves.

These are the super fast waves.

And it's that feeling when everything suddenly clicks and you're totally in the zone.

Then we go even,

You know,

We slow down a little bit more and we have beta waves.

This is our everyday gear.

So planning,

Working,

Talking,

And it's necessary,

Sure.

But if you stay here for like too long,

You start to feel that restless,

Overwhelmed sensation,

Okay?

When you start to relax,

You finally move into alpha waves.

You're still awake,

But your body begins to soften.

And honestly,

This is the first step toward real peace.

Going deeper,

We reach theta.

This is the state of imagination,

Like that fuzzy feeling right before you fall asleep.

And finally,

We have delta waves.

That's deep restorative sleep.

So no thinking,

Just healing,

Okay?

And the reason sound is so powerful is because it gives your brain a rhythm to follow.

That's it.

So if you're stuck in a high gear,

Listening to a slow,

Steady frequency,

It gives your brain permission to leave the highway and take the slow road home,

Right?

You can actually try a tiny version of this right now.

Notice where your attention is right now.

Just for a second,

Just try softening your gaze or even closing your eyes,

Okay?

You see,

The moment your eyes relax,

Your brain often shifts toward that calmer,

Alpha state almost immediately.

Sound does the exact same thing,

But even deeper.

Like I mentioned,

I go into the how and why inside my course,

The power of frequency,

But you don't need the theory to feel it,

Okay?

So if you're just curious about it,

I have many treks here on Insight Timer for sleep and emotional balance where.

.

.

Where you can actually experience these gear shifts for yourself,

Right?

But for now,

Just take a comfortable breath and let your body soften and just notice which gear you're in right now.
