Allow your body to be as comfortable as possible.
Closing down your eyes.
Bringing your attention to the breath.
Letting the body breathe naturally.
Feeling the rise and fall with each in-breath.
Into each out-breath.
Allowing the body to be.
And breathe.
As it wants.
We will now begin a gentle exploration of the five senses related to summer.
Beginning with smell.
What are some things you notice that are fragrant in the summer?
The salty ocean air.
Fresh mowed lawn or a hay field.
Freshly tilled dirt,
Earth,
Preparing for the season's planting.
The smell of summer rain.
Or perhaps you've come up with your own.
Really take it in.
Take in a deep breath of whatever it is you are imagining.
Moving on to touch.
What are some things you enjoy touching in the summer?
Perhaps the silky petals of a freshly blossomed rose.
The rough bark of a uniquely shaped tree.
On your walk through nature.
The feel of your bare feet on the grass.
Grounding you to this present moment.
What is coming to mind for you?
Allow that sensation of touch.
To completely wash over your body.
Moving on to taste.
There is an abundance of tastes during the summer months.
Fresh,
Juicy strawberries,
Raspberries,
Blueberries.
Your favorite ice cream on a hot day.
A freshly ripened tomato right off the vine,
Warmed by the sun.
What are some of your favorite summer tastes?
When you imagine them.
Notice what happens in your mouth.
Just notice.
As you continue to allow your body to breathe naturally.
What are some sounds you hear in the summer?
Perhaps various bird song as the sun is rising.
Peepers in a nearby pond.
The music of a ding-dong cart.
Children laughing and playing.
What comes to mind for you?
Allow the sounds to wash over your body.
Relaxing you.
Comforting you.
Perhaps even bringing a smile to your face.
Lastly,
What do you see throughout the summer months?
Beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
How green and bright the earth becomes.
The deepest of blue skies.
The beauty of flowers and trees and blossom and bloom.
The first flight of a monarch butterfly.
What comes to mind for you.
Breathe that in.
Welcome the goodness of whatever it is to be there.
To be here now.
Taking in a deep breath.
Allowing these images.
To completely wash over your mind and body.
Creating a sense of peace and calm.
Appreciation,
And gratitude.
The summer is a beautiful time of year.
Showing us aliveness and abundance.
Taking in one more gentle breath.
I invite you to slowly open your eyes.
May you carry these sensations with you.
Throughout your day,
And always.
Many blessings.
Namaste.
