When it feels like we can't go on anymore,
We just can't cope.
Everything is overwhelming us and surrounding us.
We can use this 2 minute rescue to ground ourselves,
Take a breather,
Get some perspective and get back out there.
It can be useful to recite the phrase,
This too shall pass.
Because we know that it will pass.
Change is our only constant.
So we know that this situation,
This stressor,
It will pass.
So we can just repeat that phrase as many times as we need,
In our minds,
Out loud,
To help us remember that this too shall pass.
Now what I'd like to do is just give you some breathing space.
I'd like you just to close your eyes and just in front of you imagine the outline of a square.
And on the inhale you can go from the bottom left corner all the way to the top.
And then as you draw across the top you can hold your breath.
And then draw down the right hand side as you exhale.
Hold as you draw across the bottom back to the initial corner we started with.
Let's try it now.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Inhale.
Hold.
Exhale.
Hold.
You can go at your own pace.
You can hold and inhale and exhale as long as you need to.
And then you can be ready to go back out there and do what needs to be done.
