Welcome to this sleep recording from Perspective Health and Wellbeing.

I'd like you to take this time to settle yourself down,

Find a comfortable position and close your eyes.

I'd like you to remove any thoughts about trying to sleep,

So that you're not fighting,

But to focus more on how you can relax.

So I'd just like you at this moment to think about the things that you can feel,

Perhaps the blankets that are laying on you.

Your head resting there on the pillows or the cushions and those points of contact where your body meets your mattress or the surface you're laying on.

I'd like to remind you of how safe you are right now and that you can take this time for yourself to settle down and get the much needed rest and relaxation that you deserve.

So I'd like you to right now take in a nice big deep breath,

Hold it and release.

And then another one,

Breathing in calmness and exhaling anything from the day that you no longer need.

And just at this moment I'd like you to just try and figure out if there is any way that you can take your relaxation any deeper.

Perhaps you need to release your jaw,

Relax your tongue or change your position slightly.

Anything that can just offer you that little bit more comfort as we get ready to drift off into blissful sleep.

Now as you're laying there I'd just like to imagine that there's a wave of calmness that's going to sweep over you.

I'd like to imagine it with little glittery sparkles.

And as it starts at the top of your head right at the very tips of your scalp.

As it comes down across your face loosening and lengthening any of the muscles around your eyes,

Down your nose,

Your cheeks,

Down past your mouth.

Sprinkling more as it heads down past your throat.

And as it continues down that relaxation and calmness just sprinkles more across your shoulders.

As if you can feel the tension just being smoothed out.

As it continues to float down your arms,

Past your elbows,

Down your forearms,

Loosening your wrists into your hands,

Into the very tips of your fingers and the tips of your thumbs.

Feeling from the day just draining away whilst this wonderful relaxed feeling just continues to sprinkle over you.

As it continues down your chest,

Your back,

Down your centre trunk.

Going down over your stomach and the lower back.

Down through your pelvis,

Your hips and your buttocks.

As it continues to just cover you with relaxation and calming feelings.

As it continues to slide down your legs.

Just relaxing every single muscle,

Every tendon,

Every ligament.

As you take this time just really relax.

As it keeps on flowing down the rest of your legs,

Down your calves and your shins,

Down to your ankles,

All the way down to your heels,

The soles of your feet and the very tips of your toes.

It's almost as if you could imagine yourself laying there in full calm,

Peaceful relaxation.

As this wave continues to float around you,

It might be that you can hear any sounds around you,

Either in the space you're in or from outside.

As you're reminded that you are allowed to take this time for you and the world can continue to pass by and you can return to it once you are refreshed and revived.

But right now this time is for you.

And I'd like you just to imagine that you're walking down towards a beautiful garden.

This might be a garden that you've been to before or it might be a new garden.

Maybe one you've seen on telly or one that you're creating in your imagination just now.

So as we walk down into this garden I'd like you to take in all the sights around you that you can see.

The scent of the beautiful flowers and shrubs that you can see.

The colours.

Perhaps there are sounds that you can hear.

The wildlife.

Perhaps that gentle breeze rustling through the leaves.

And as you get to the end of this pathway I'd like you to go and sit at the bottom of the ancient oak tree.

As you look up you can see how majestic it stands.

All the years that it's been there.

Everything that it has seen.

As it reaches up far up into the sky.

And as its roots reach down far into the earth.

And I'd like you just to sit with your back against the tree.

And just feel the strength and the power that that great oak wants to give you.

Perhaps as you're laying or sitting there you can think about what might come up in your mind and your thoughts.

Are there any new insights?

Any different ways of things that are on your mind?

Perhaps there's a new perspective for you to take.

And as you lay there picturing yourself under that great oak.

I'd like you to imagine yourself laying down.

There's a blanket nearby.

And a small cushion for your head.

I'd like you to lay back and just relax further into the comfort that surrounds you here.

For you are safe here.

And you can sleep soundly.

Knowing that when you awake you will be revived and refreshed.

And that strength and that power that you can feel from the tree is yours.

Is yours to take through into the coming day,

The coming week and the coming months.

So you can just settle back now.

Nice and calm.

And just drift off into a pleasant,

Wonderful sleep.
